Russia Giving Iran Captured US Weapons to Copy

ANALYSIS – As an isolated Russia deepens its political and military ties with the terrorist regime in Tehran, a new tech transfer is occurring.

And it’s part of the mutually beneficial military trade between the two highly sanctioned pariah states.

While I’ve written about the Iranian ‘suicide drones,’ ballistic missiles and Revolutionary Guard trainers backing Russia in Ukraine, now we are seeing a reverse flow of military hardware.

In late August Russia reportedly sent captured high-tech U.S. and NATO weapons to Iran for reverse engineering and copying.

Sky News reports:

Russia flew €140m in cash [roughly US$141million] and a selection of captured UK and US weapons to Iran in return for dozens of deadly drones for its war in Ukraine, a security source has claimed.

Russian military aircraft secretly transported the cash and three models of munition – a British NLAW anti-tank missile, a US Javelin anti-tank missile and a Stinger anti-aircraft missile – to an airport in Tehran in the early hours of 20 August, the source told Sky News…

The weapons had been part of a shipment of UK and US military equipment intended for the Ukrainian military that “fell into Russian hands”, according to the source.

The source said they could give Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) the ability to study Western technology and potentially copy it.

“They will probably be reverse-engineered and used in future wars,” the source said.

The source shared satellite imagery showing two Russian military cargo planes parked for around three and a half hours at the Tehran airport early on Aug. 20.

At least five Russian aircraft have reportedly transported drones from Iran since then.

Moscow and Tehran have in recent days agreed on another $200-million drone deal, Sky News’ source said, adding: “That means there will be another big supply of UAVs from Iran soon.”

Ukraine has accused Russia of deploying around 400 Iranian drones in a recent barrage of strikes on civilian infrastructure, causing widespread blackouts and water outages. Kyiv also said Russia has ordered around 2,000 more drones from Iran.

Moscow and Tehran have also just agreed on another $200-million drone deal, Sky News’ source said, adding: “That means there will be another big supply of UAVs from Iran soon.”

Ukraine has accused Russia of deploying around 400 Iranian drones in a recent barrage of strikes on civilian infrastructure, causing widespread blackouts and water outages. Kyiv also said Russia has ordered around 2,000 more drones from Iran.

However, another Sky News report suggests this exchange of U.S. and British military tech isn’t a big deal:

“Fundamentally, that is the risk we took when we decided it was important to help Ukraine,” Defence Secretary Ben Wallace tells Sky News – adding it is not a major concern as the weapons do not contain cutting edge technology.

At the same time, Britain and other NATO allies were enjoying an “amazing opportunity” to learn about President Vladimir Putin‘s military capabilities from Russian weapons captured by the Ukrainians, he said.

Still, expect this Russian- Iranian alliance to keep growing, and both sides benefiting at the expense of U.S. and NATO. ALD

Thank you Mr. Biden. THANKS FOR NOTHING! At one time our military had the best most accurate weapons. That’s no longer the case since you’ve seen fit to commit what I’d call treason and give enemies of our country OUR weapons.

What is the big deal——–the USA walked away from $86 Billion of the finest weapons we make when Biden pulled us out of Afghanistan!!!???? Now “that” was stupid!!! Kind of like giving billions of $ to lazy liberals to stay home, our southern border open to the world, our $31 trillion debt, and a senile, idiot, commie for a president!!! Absolutely none of this makes any sense!!!!
