Russian Commander On ‘Peacekeeping Mission’ Machine-Gunned To Death

-

A Russian submarine commander on a “peacekeeping mission” to the disputed enclave of found himself on the receiving end of heavy machine gun fire this week, courtesy of the Azerbaijani military.

The results were fatal.

Captain Ivan Kovgan's mission came as part of an attempt by to exert its influence over the South Caucasus region. The transcontinental landmass was responsible for up to 90% of Soviet oil production.

Kovgan was the deputy commander of Russia's Northern Fleet's submarine forces.

has long looked to the Kremlin as a guarantor of its security. Nevertheless, last week's Azerbaijani offensive broke through Armenia's strategic defensive positions, leading to the surrender of separatist forces.

Though internationally recognized as part of Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh has remained under Armenian control since the early 1990s. The region is home to some 120,000 ethnic Armenians. The most recent flare-up in the overlooked region has restored Azerbaijani sovereignty.

The Armenian government has accused Azerbaijan of perpetrating a campaign of ethnic cleansing, a claim Azerbaijan denies, citing recently opened humanitarian corridors for civilians to evacuate.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev celebrated his nation's victory Wednesday, declaring the offensive succeeded with an “iron fist.”

The consequences of the perceived failure will reverberate for some time in Armenia – and Russia.

Thousands have taken to the streets in the Armenian capital of Yerevan, demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. Many blame Pashinyan for failing to respond in force to Azerbaijan's attack. Yet foreign policy analysts consider the Azerbaijani armed forces superior to its Armenian counterpart, possibly influencing Pahinyan's decision-making.

Russia's propaganda machine quickly responded to the failure to defend its Armenian ally by declaring that Azerbaijan had always been a robust strategic partner.

    • Russia has exercised extreme restraint in this US/NATO created crisis. The US is reaping what it has sowed by choosing to ignore what IT has sowed on it’s southern border!!!! i applaud Russia for sticking to it’s principles of securing it’s borders and the safety of it’s people unlike the US and western Europe. Once again the US is “buying” so-called allies in it’s wreckless endeavours to destroy Russia and any other country that chooses to claim it’s own destiny and that of the failing US and EU that has lost it’s identity and failed it’s citizens. A country is only as great as the citizens it serves. Unfortunately, the US and Europe has failed miserably!!!!

  1. Houk, the author of this “report,” positively gushes over the death of a Russian captain. Russians are there to try to prevent a replay of the 1915-1920 Armenian Massacre. The current head of Azerbaijan’s military has stated that they want to kill all Armenians. Not just in the so-called “disputed” province, but all Armenians, period. The difference between 1915 and 2023 is that back in 1915 Americans were actually Americans, and were on the side of the Armenians. Not any more. America is not America; it is today run by traitors and international bankers who are fully on board for a repeat of the Armenian Massacre. The Oklahoma National Guard were in Azerbaijan as early as 2009, training Azerbaijan’s military. Putin has already effectively stated that he will throw Armenia under the bus. Putin has made it clear that he doesn’t give a sh*t about Armenia or about Russian peacekeepers who will be killed. The Armenians will be wiped out because they are Orthodox Christian. There is now no one to prevent this. The US government is supporting (arming and training) the radical islamist Azerbaijanis just like they supported Al Qaeda in Bosnia in the 1980s.

  2. In the early 1990’s Gorbachev stated that the greatest threat to the world was ethnic tribalism…..and no one seemed to understand.
