ANALYSIS – It should. It may be now or never. After the massive ballistic missile attack on Israel by Iran in solidarity with their terror proxy Hezbollah in Lebanon hit hard by Israel, the big question is what Israel will do next.
And many believe and hope Israel will finally strike Iran’s nuclear facilities.
This would end, or at least dramatically delay Iran’s plans to quickly deploy nukes to threaten Israel, our Arab allies and even Europe.

Israel rightly views the Iranian nuclear program as an existential threat. For many reasons, I believe Israel will strike, and it should.
On Wednesday, Biden-Harris signaled a willingness to support Israel in a potential response, with the White House promising “severe consequences for this attack.” In Biden-Harris speak this generally means sanctions at the most and not much else.
And soon afterwards, Joe Biden said he would not support an Israeli attack on Iranian nuclear sites. Israel should continue to ignore Biden-Harris and do what needs to be done.
When Iran launched around 180 missiles at its territory, Israel said it would retaliate and is reportedly planning its response but it’s not yet clear what form it could take. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared after the attack that “Iran made a big mistake tonight, and it will pay for it,” vowing, “whoever attacks us — we will attack them.”

In April, Iran fired some 300 cruise missiles and drones at Israel, after an Israeli airstrike killed several Iranian generals in Damascus. Though Israel’s alleged response to that attack was restrained, Israel will be more aggressive this time around.
Former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett has now urged the government to destroy Iran’s nuclear facilities. Bennett, on CNN Tuesday shortly after the attack, called this moment a “once in a 50-year opportunity.”
“We need to take out Iran’s nuclear program, we need to attack Iran’s energy facilities, and we need to attack the regime itself, right away,” Bennett said, noting that Hezbollah and Hamas are at a historically weak point after a year of war.
“It’s time to hit, destroy the nuclear program, and finally allow the Iranian people to rise up—the amazing Iranian people, who have one of the worst regimes on earth,” he said.
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant also posted comments in English on X:
I spent this evening in the command and control center together with senior defense officials, closely watching the IDF’s successful defense against the Iranian missile attack on Israel.

Iran has not learned a simple lesson – those who attack the State of Israel, pay a heavy…
Citing U.S. officials, the New York Times reported that Israel could target Iran’s nuclear facilities, focusing on uranium enrichment facilities in Natanz. This facility is considered to be the core of Iran’s nuclear program.

And it is time to knock it out. As the New York Post reported:
Foundation for Defense of Democracies senior adviser Richard Goldberg told The Post that the Harris-Biden administration should increase US missile-defense contributions to Israel, as well as provide “all logistical and intelligence support it needs to do severe damage to Iran’s most lethal threats: its missile arsenal, its nuclear infrastructure and [Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps] command and control.”
“We should also not hesitate to use our own stand-off capabilities against the regime directly in response to any attack on US interests by its proxies, including the Houthis [in Yemen], thus ensuring a strategic victory for both our countries,” said Goldberg, whose think tank opposed the Obama-era nuclear deal with Iran.
“And wouldn’t it be nice to do the no-brainer stuff too like ending sanctions relief for Iran and triggering the snapback of UN sanctions, too?” he added.
Israel is also weighing striking Iranian strategic infrastructure, such as gas or oil rigs, which could push Iran’s economy into a tailspin, as well as targeted assassinations, attacks on air bases, air defenses and responses coordinated with the U.S.
Goldberg also noted that Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei may be growing more desperate to hold onto power.
[Khamenei] is now, I think, shooting missiles to protect the regime, believing it’s his only hope of showing strength,” he said. “Iran now actually fears for the regime’s survival. They now perceive that Israel has changed its strategy: it’s back on offense, it’s moving toward the regime itself … [and its] nuclear program.
Longer term, Israel is likely considering “how to destabilize that regime and help the Iranian people take it back,” he said.
Meanwhile, Israel is reinforcing its presence in south Lebanon a day after it was attacked by Iran, with ground incursions launched on Tuesday aimed largely at destroying tunnels and other Hezbollah infrastructure along the border.
The Israel Defense Force (IDF) reportedly lost eight soldiers in these incursions.
