White House Confirms Earlier Deadline for Border Security Compliance
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt clarified that the deadline for U.S. allies Canada and Mexico to comply with President Trump’s border security demands is Saturday, Feb. 1, not March 1 as previously reported.
Barring any last-minute changes, the administration is moving forward with a series of tariffs, including:
–25% on Canadian imports
–25% on Mexican imports
–10% on Chinese imports

Fentanyl, a potent synthetic opioid, has significantly contributed to the opioid crisis in the United States. Between 2018 and 2022, over 250,000 Americans died from fentanyl overdoses.
While the opioid crisis has had a devastating impact, fentanyl has not killed tens of millions of Americans, as Leavitt said. The total number of fentanyl-related deaths is in the hundreds of thousands, not the tens of millions.
Canada Considers Drastic Energy Response
In a potentially severe countermeasure, Canada is reportedly considering cutting off all energy exports to the United States as early as next week in response to the tariffs. Such a move would significantly impact U.S. energy supply chains, given Canada’s role as America’s top supplier of crude oil and natural gas.
While Canadian officials have not made an official announcement, sources suggest the move is under serious discussion as Ottawa weighs its options in response to Trump’s trade policies.
As The Economic Times reports:
One of Canada’s strongest leverage points is its energy exports to the United States. Canada is the largest supplier of crude oil to the U.S., providing 60% of total imports.
Additionally, 30 U.S. states rely on electricity from Canadian provinces such as Ontario, British Columbia, and Manitoba.
Some Canadian officials, including Ontario Premier Doug Ford, have suggested limiting energy exports as a way to put pressure on Washington.
However, this move remains controversial, , particularly with oil-producing Alberta, which fears it could harm its economy more than the U.S, as mentioned in a report by BBC.
No one — on either side of the border — wants to see American tariffs on Canadian goods.

I met with our Canada-U.S. Council today. We’re working hard to prevent these tariffs, but if the United States moves ahead, Canada’s ready with a forceful and immediate response.
Fentanyl Crisis: The Border Breakdown
The border security debate has intensified amid staggering fentanyl seizure statistics. In 2023, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) confiscated 21,846 pounds of fentanyl at the U.S.-Mexico border—a stark contrast to the 43 pounds intercepted at the Canadian border.
This disparity underscores the dominant role of Mexican cartels, particularly the Sinaloa Cartel and the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, as key suppliers of fentanyl to the United States. However, new intelligence suggests a growing role for transnational crime groups in Canada, which are reportedly ramping up synthetic drug production. This emerging trend could heighten concerns about illicit drug flows through the northern border in the future.
What’s Next?
With Canada contemplating an unprecedented energy retaliation and the Trump administration maintaining its firm stance on border security, tensions are rising. If Canada moves forward with an energy cutoff, it could mark the most significant economic confrontation between the two allies in history.
The coming days will determine whether diplomatic negotiations can deescalate the situation—or if North America is heading toward a full-blown trade war.

LETS SEE HOW FAR THIS GOES!!!
Canada’s Trudeau and his Liberal/Fascist government is actually delighted with Trumps Tariff’s on oil. Trudeau wants to retaliate by cutting off Oil sales to the US and have an excuse. Both Trudeau Jr and his Father former PM Pierre Trudeau have always wanted to destroy Canada’s energy industries as the energy industries funded the opposition political parties and later have been so philanthropic to the nation.
So now Trudeau can destroy the energy industry and blame it on TRUMP and telling the Brain dead Canadian electorate “Look what Trump made me do!”
Only 10% on the CCP for killing 100,00 Americans? Weak!!
That was 4 US Army/Navy/Marine/USAF divisions! Gone now!
In a potentially severe countermeasure, Canada is reportedly considering cutting off all energy exports to the United States as early as next week in response to the tariffs.
If this were a serious threat, the decision would have already been made AND announced.
