President Donald Trump said he plans to follow through on Saturday on his threat to impose 25% tariffs on goods from Mexico and Canada.
“We’ll be announcing the tariffs on Canada and Mexico for a number of reasons,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office. He cited the influx of migrants at the southern border, the flow of fentanyl into the United States and the trade deficit the U.S. has with its neighbors.
“I’ll be putting the tariff of 25% on Canada and Mexico, and we will really have to do that because we have very big deficits with those countries,” he said. “Those tariffs may or may not rise with time.”

Trump added that he had yet to decide whether to include oil among the items subject to tariffs.
“We may or may not. We’re going to make that determination, probably tonight, on oil. Because they send us oil, we’ll see. It depends on what the price is. If the oil is properly priced, if they treat us properly, which they don’t,” Trump said.
“Look, Mexico and Canada have never been good to us on trade,” he continued. “They’ve treated us very unfairly on trade, and we will be able to make that up very quickly because we don’t need the products that they have.”
In the final days of his presidential campaign, the then-president-elect said in posts on Truth Social he planned to enact 25% tariffs on Canadian and Mexican goods, while adding an extra 10% tariff on Chinese goods on “day one.” (RELATED: Trump Threatens Canada And Mexico With Massive Tariffs)
The aim of the tariffs, according to Trump, is to press the countries to increase their efforts on border security and combating fentanyl exports to the U.S.
“Both Mexico and Canada have the absolute right and power to easily solve this long simmering problem. We hereby demand that they use this power, and until such time that they do, it is time for them to pay a very big price!” Trump said on Truth Social.

Look what happens, when you no longer make items. You buy from those WHO DO !!! USA money leaving on so many FRONTS, but not even any amount comming in . I have THREE MAJOR QUESTIONS : First will I have to pay a Tariff on Out of country , CANADIAN fishing license ? Will there be a Tariff charge on Tacos at TACO BELL ? Or will I be FORCED to Buy just US fishing license, and support US FISH and GAME ? And even worse buy only AMERICAN made Ethnic Dishes ? MY 3rd Question or WISH, if a GENIE in the bottle !! Will there be a Tariff PUT on ALL CANADIAN and MEXICAN UNDOCUMENTED Immigrants, since there is NO undocumented ALIENS ! ???????????????? IF so ? lets add a few more countries to collect money for all the FOR-EN-EERS living here and not PLEDGING ALLEGENCE to the USA ?????
