Authorities found the district office of a well-known Jewish Democrat vandalized with pro-Palestinian graffiti. An investigation is ongoing.
Two individuals are reported to have vandalized the Brooklyn headquarters of Rep. Dan Goldman (D-N.Y.). They defaced the building with different phrases, including “Free Palestine” and the words “Blood on ur hands.”
“Harassing, intimidating, and outright attacking the staff of a Jewish elected official at a time of rising violence and rampant antisemitism is dangerous and unacceptable,” Goldman's communications director said in a statement to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency (JTA).
Mediaite reports:
JTA also noted that the NYPD is investigating the incident and “that officers had been responding to graffiti at a couple of other sites in the area when they discovered the vandalism on the congressman's district office.” The report added:
Security footage showed at least two people defacing the building. However, the perpetrators put a plastic bag over the camera so the images were unclear, Goldman's office said.
Goldman served as lead counsel in the first impeachment of Donald Trump. His district includes portions of Manhattan and Brooklyn. Previously, he worked as an MSNBC on-air contributor.
Notably, he was in Israel with his family on Oct. 7 and had to take shelter during the attack. Recounting his experience after leaving Tel Aviv, Goldman said that “Hamas needs to be eliminated.”
