Elon Musk is once again at the center of the global free speech debate—this time by making an anti-immigration film available to millions after it was effectively blocked from release in Germany.
The billionaire temporarily uploaded the full feature film Citizen Vigilante to X this week after the movie failed to receive an age classification from Germany’s film ratings board, a decision that prevented it from being shown in theaters, sold through retailers, or distributed on streaming platforms within the country. According to the film’s official X account, Musk made the movie available to watch for 48 hours.
Directed by German filmmaker Uwe Boll and starring Armie Hammer, Citizen Vigilante follows a man who turns to vigilante justice after a personal tragedy, targeting violent criminals and corrupt public officials. The film has been criticized for themes of immigration and public safety.
While Germany did not formally ban the movie through government decree, the country’s FSK ratings board declined to issue it an age classification—a designation known as Kein Kennzeichen. Without that classification, the film is effectively barred from normal commercial distribution throughout Germany.
Boll has argued that the decision was rooted in political censorship rather than a routine content review.
“The rating system refused to give us a rating [in Germany], so now you can only watch it if you bring in a Blu-ray from Austria or Switzerland,” Boll told The Daily Telegraph. “And I think they did that on purpose. It was a deliberate censorship decision.”
According to Boll, an appeal challenging the ruling failed by a 6-2 vote after regulators concluded the film could “incite violence” against migrants.
“They told me the film was inciting violence against migrants,” Boll said.
The director has maintained that the movie was inspired by real-world events, including a widely publicized 2016 case in Hamburg in which several teenage migrants received suspended sentences after being convicted of the gang rape of a 14-year-old girl. Boll said he wanted to explore broader questions surrounding crime, justice, and public frustration rather than produce an anti-immigration film.
The production also marked a return to leading roles for actor Armie Hammer, whose Hollywood career largely stalled after multiple women accused him of sexual misconduct in 2021. Hammer has consistently denied criminal wrongdoing, no criminal charges were ever filed against him, and Los Angeles prosecutors later declined to pursue the case, citing insufficient evidence.
Musk’s decision to distribute the film aligns with his longstanding criticism of European speech restrictions and censorship policies. Since acquiring X, he has repeatedly argued that governments and regulatory bodies have increasingly sought to suppress political dissent under the guise of combating misinformation or hate speech.
The controversy comes as European governments continue to face growing public debate over immigration, crime, and speech.

Germany is still wary about this type of thing because of what happened during the 2nd World War.
It’s time to get over it! It is NOT being raciest when it is necessary to defend your country from those who wish to take it over and destroy your way of life.
And they intend to destroy any form of individual freedom, too, for that matter.
If you have any sense of morality … think of your country’s citizens and protect them!
Protect them from those who wish to destroy their rights and to dominate them ( and their plan to ‘eliminate’ anyone who stands against these thugs ).
We must stand against the political portion of the Muslim religion ( if it really IS a religion ) and force anyone who comes into their free country to live there to follow the rules and laws of that country into which these people have moved.
NO SHARIA LAW IN ANY NON-MUSLIM COUNTRY! And for that matter, there should be the elimination of Sharia in ALL countries!
But Islam is determined to defeat and control every country that it’s adherents have moved into. All legal force must be used against them!
They’ve tried to do this crap before ( read your history ), and they are trying to do it again.
If they are not stopped, there will be no freedom what-so-ever in any country that they control. And they intend to control ALL countries in the world!
