Farmers and fishermen across Holland have angrily protested the Dutch government’s new environmental rules as the debate surrounding them has intensified.
Officials at the Hague recently unveiled their goals to mandate drastic nitrogen emission reductions of up to 70% in many places.
And as high as 95% in others.
The government says the measures are necessary to reduce emissions to protect nature and an “unavoidable transition” in the environment.
Dutch farmers, fearful of losing their livelihoods amid the imminent upheaval of the country’s multibillion-euro agricultural industry, have risen and made their presence known in everyday life. Tractor-trailers in the tiny country have blocked food warehouses and supermarkets — leading to a Trudeauesque response by the government.

Dutch police fired shots at tractor-riding farmers who were protesting against plans to cut nitrogen emissions on Tuesday evening in northern Netherlands.
Police said they were responding to a “threatening situation” when the farmers, who were attempting to push past a blockade to get onto a highway in the province of Friesland, started to drive their tractors into officers and their vehicles.
According to the Friesland police, their shots hit a tractor, but no one was injured. Three suspects were arrested. The Rijksrecherche, the Dutch government’s internal investigator, said it would look into the events given police had discharged their weapons.
The standoff between some 40,000 farmers and the authorities at food distribution centers has sparked fears of a food shortage. Fishermen have also blocked some ports in a show of solidarity.
For now, the government appears unmoved.
Dutch Minister for Nature and Nitrogen Policy Christianne van der Wal defended the cabinet’s controversial measures in a recent interview, stating:
“We have to emit so much less nitrogen, and unfortunately, the agricultural sector emits a lot. They have done an awful lot to emit less, but unfortunately, that is not enough. It still needs to be reduced a lot more.”

I was going to suggest that the farmers trade in their oh so horrible natural resource fossil fuel tractors for mules and old-fashioned plows and harvesting equipment. Then I realized that mules fart.

This is ludicrous. The left tries to make life impossible by saying they are protecting the environment. Meanwhile, their policies are designed to eliminate life.
Carbon dioxide is a fundamental building block of ALL life on earth. The left wants to eliminate it in the name of saving the planet.
Nitrogen is the major component of earth’s atmosphere. In addition, it forms a crucial part of biological molecules, the amino acids that are combined to make proteins.
Without carbon dioxide, there is no life. Nitrogen is impossible to remove from the atmosphere, but the left will try.
Who is behind these insane policy decisions? Could it be that the human extinction movement is so set on extincting humans that it has expanded its scope to all life on earth?
Air is 78% Nitrogen. You better hope the wacko enviro’s do not succeed in this venture.
Look no farther than those who met in Davos to find those responsible.
