President Joe Biden is reportedly preparing to permanently ban offshore oil and gas drilling in select U.S. coastal waters, a last-minute move that could thwart President-elect Donald Trump’s efforts to expand domestic energy production.
The proposed action, as reported by Bloomberg, would target sensitive marine areas, making it notoriously challenging for future administrations to reverse the protections:
Biden is set within days to issue the executive order barring the sale of new drilling rights in portions of the country’s outer continental shelf, according to people familiar with the effort who asked not to be named because the decision isn’t public.
The move is certain to complicate President-elect Donald Trump’s ambitions to drive more domestic energy production. Unlike other executive actions that can be easily undone, Biden’s planned declaration is rooted in a 72-year-old law that gives the White House wide discretion to permanently protect US waters from oil and gas leasing without explicitly empowering presidents to revoke the designations.
The move responds to pressure from congressional Democrats and environmental groups who have lobbied Biden to “maximize permanent protections” against offshore drilling, arguing the action is essential to safeguard vulnerable coastal communities, protect marine ecosystems from oil spills and fight climate change.

Biden administration officials have been considering the approach for more than two years, though their efforts intensified after Trump’s victory, as the outgoing president sought to enshrine new environmental measures before the end of his term. The fresh offshore protections are in line with similar recent Biden actions to protect areas from industrial mining and energy development, including a formal proposal issued Monday to thwart the sale of new oil, gas and geothermal leases in Nevada’s Ruby Mountains.
Though Republicans hold trifecta control in Washington, D.C., Biden can unilaterally undermine Trump’s promise of greater energy independence through executive orders.
If issued, the decree would likely prohibit new drilling across wide swaths of the outer continental shelf, including regions near California and Florida’s Gulf Coast.

Trump should file an immediate emergency cognitive test to see if Biden has the ability to make accurate and important decisions as POTUS! And take the testing back to his debate in August with Our 47th President Donald Trump whereby he flopped and became disoriented. Once the testing is complete and proven he is not fit for the office, all Biden’s directives and orders will be taken back from his failed testing results and nothing he changed in government will have occurred due to his disabilities and his inability to think rationally. The Senate will then take control of the duties of the POTUS until President Trump is sworn in. That’s the way it should happen. Biden is a communist “Big Guy” and wants to do harm to this country in any and everyway possible!!!!
Me along with many millions more will be happy to support any move by Trump to ignore this or any other Executive orders from the criminal and mentally defunct Joe Biden. If Trump wants to drill on the outer shelf of the Atlantic Shore then that is what we will do, we would care as much about any law or Executive Order from Joe Biden as he did about the laws in place concerning our borders and sovereignty as a nation.

It isn’t even necessary to ignore the order. Either the original order is invalid on its face, or an order revoking it is as valid as the original order.
A previously passed law, even from waaaay back in 1953, can be changed by an act of Congress.
Just as Biden reversed Trumps Executive orders, President Trump can do the same.
I wash my hand’s of Biden and the Democrats, banning off shore drilling just for pure spite against Trump and CONSERVATIVES. I was willing to give him the benefit of doubt, (not the dem’s, but Biden), not so now, get these people out of office and create a 10year cruise for them. I will be dead by then, and will not care.
There is literally NOTHING a President can do by Executive Order that a future President can’t undo by Executive Order.
Regardless of what can legitimately be done via Executive Order, the authority do something is the power to undo the same thing. If the original order is valid, an order revoking it must be equally valid.
“Half wit Bidens” executive orders are Republican toilet paper as they should be. Issue new superseding executive orders and nullify the “Half Wits” trash orders.
