In an audacious move, President Joe Biden's latest budget will allocate significant funds to support border security initiatives in foreign nations such as Egypt and Jordan.
The revelation comes as the United States grapples with an unprecedented border crisis.
The approved budget, which allows for $1.2 trillion in government spending, will allocate approximately $380 million to support “enhanced border security” in Egypt, Lebanon, Oman, Tunisia and Jordan.
The Kingdom of Jordan alone is set to receive $150 million.
A former Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer took to social media to condemn the White House, highlighting the administration's perceived hypocrisy.
Since President Biden's inauguration, the U.S. government has reported roughly nine million unauthorized migrant encounters with 1.7 million known gotaways. (RELATED: Senate Democrats Reject Proposal To Only Count Citizens In Census)
The number of encounters represents an exponential increase compared to those in the Trump years. The Daily Wire has more information on the political fallout:
As many as 320,000 foreign nationals have also been flown all across the country by the Biden administration to at least 43 different American airports. Sen. Bill Hagerty (R-TN) proposed an amendment that would prevent the administration from using taxpayer dollars to fund these flights, but it failed by a vote of 47 to 51 with every single Democrat Senator voting to allow the flights to continue.
Now, Biden appears to be suffering among voters for his handling of the border. The Democrat incumbent, who's shown to be trailing behind former President Donald Trump in recent polls, has a meager 36% approval rating from registered voters on his handling of immigration, according to a recent Harvard CAPS Harris poll. Among all issues, Biden has the lowest issue-specific approval rating on his handling of immigration, a trend that has persisted for four months.
The same poll also found that immigration has ranked as the top issue facing the country by the survey of registered voters, as well as the second highest issue affecting voters personally behind inflation.
