Democratic Official Charged With Raping Teenager

Authorities have finally charged a commissioner for allegedly raping a 15-year-old boy in 2017.

, from Darby Township, , reportedly lured the boy into his car under the guise of giving him a ride home. Instead, the 50-year-old drove to a secluded park and raped him.

A Nightmare Gets Worse

Smith became Darby Township's 1st Ward Commissioner in 2019. He won the election after the juvenile reported the attack to the Philadelphia Police Department.

It's unclear why Smith wasn't charged earlier. According to one outlet, questions referred to the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office went unanswered before the story went to print. (RELATED: The 7 Most Egregious Decisions by Soros' Trojan Horse Prosecutors)

Today, Smith stands charged with a litany of crimes: rape by forcible compulsion, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse by forcible compulsion, sexual assault, statutory sexual assault, indecent assault, luring a child into a motor vehicle, corruption of a minor and reckless endangerment.  

The Delaware County Daily Times further reports:

Members of the Philadelphia Police Department's public relations department were not available Friday, but prior news reports by the Philadelphia Inquirer and ABC6 indicate the assault occurred in August 2017, when Smith allegedly approached the 15-year-old boy in West Philadelphia and convinced him to enter the vehicle by claiming he was a family friend.

The teen reported the alleged assault to Philadelphia Police in 2019, but an arrest warrant was not issued until Nov. 22, 2021, according to news reports. Smith turned himself in to the Special Victims Unit Tuesday and was released after posting 10% of $100,000 bail.

The Town Won't Act – Yet

Darby Township released a statement that reads in part, “The Township takes these matters very seriously and will cooperate to the fullest extent with any investigation related to Commissioner Smith,” according to ABC6. Solicitor Michael Pierce also told the station that the township intends to “respect the judicial process” and does not plan to take action against Smith prior to a conviction or guilty plea.

Smith previously served as the township's police commissioner until his removal from that position last year when he posted a meme to his personal Facebook page that featured an image of two Black men holding guns to the head of a white police officer with the text, “Does it have to come to this to make them stop murdering and terrorizing us?”
