House Forecast Shifts Dramatically in Favor of Democrats

-

, the U.S. House editor at , has revised his midterm forecast with lower-than-expected gains for the .

And maintaining full control of Congress is not out of the question.

The Cook Political Report is considered the gold standard among political prognosticators. In May, they forecasted a gain of 20-35 seats for in the U.S. House. Following last night's GOP defeat and underperformance in a bellwether and a conservative congressional district, respectively, Cook Political now expects Republicans to gain 10-20 seats, with the real possibility of Democrats maintaining control under Nancy Pelosi if this trend continues. Wasserman adds that not only are Democrats more motivated to vote post-Dobbs, but Republicans and Trump's strongest supporters appear less motivated than they were last November in and . To Wasserman, that's “just as big a part of the story.”

Per The Cook Political Report:

That sound you hear is the crash of expectations of big GOP gains in the House this fall. Democrats notched a huge victory in New York's 19th CD last night as Democrat Pat Ryan defeated Republican Marc Molinaro 51% to 49% in a Hudson Valley special election both parties had invested in. That's roughly the same margin President Biden had carried the seat by in 2020. The result shouldn't be shocking, considering Democrats had outperformed in other recent specials in NE-01 and MN-01. But Molinaro, regarded as a pragmatic executive of blue-leaning Dutchess County, had led in multiple polls throughout the race. Ryan, the younger Ulster County executive and decorated Army veteran, prevailed after a late push to make rights the centerpiece of the campaign.

For now, Cook Political still believes that Republicans are favorites to win back the House. Wasserman expects the GOP will benefit from a higher Election Day turnout, which should occur in November. (RELATED: Unlikely Republican Rising Star About to Take Message Nationwide)

According to FiveThirtyEight's most recent 40,000 computer simulations, Republicans win the House 78% of the time. Their model shows Republicans winning the only 36% of the time — down from 54% in June.

  1. #1 – have any of these pollsters accounted for the Rs that have moved out of commie, Stalin states such as NY? That has a huge impact on the district makeup.
#2 – election fraud? Has any journalist heard of it?
    #3 – 10 seats means Repub control.

  2. The only money Democrat regime is getting is from one place Soros. He is paying for all the democrats. Never got one ad for money for democrats.. Media is lying as always. Corruption from the nazi regime. I don’t vote for anyone showing how much money they have spent. Democrats cheat and lie. News outlets suck. Liars all of them. Fox news is no better than CNN. Owners are socialist little boys who’s wives keep their balls in their purses. Mitch McConnell needs run out of office and the state. China lover and a drug runner.

    • One thing I dis agree with you on Orange peel is not all Fox News is bad. I watch Fox News “Fox and Friends” in the morning, and Dan Bongino Saturday night (which by the way is one of my favorites), Hannity, and Tucker Carlson every night.
      Who are you referring to?

    • And lose more in other districts around the country!!!!!!!!!!
I despise ALL libtards AND the repukicants within the Republican party!

  3. It appears voters who would otherwise vote for the GOP are staying home or even voting Democrat as a counterweight against the Christian Nationalist Supreme Court.

  4. When you try to research the political leanings of the writer of this article, Patrick Houck, one finds the same worn phrase used every time:
“…an avid political enthusiast based out of the Washington, D.C. metro area…”. From his writing and the timing of this article before midterms, it is obvious he is biased toward and supporting the established Swamp. His article is designed to discourage conservative voters and quell their enthusiasm. I don’t believe a word of what he says. In reality, a red tsunami is coming and conservative voters will turn out in droves. There will also be much more oversight of vote counting, ballot harvesting and the use of mules in the wee hours of darkness. That’s when Democrats steal elections, just like called for in the Marxist playbook.

  5. The only way the corrupt Democrats and RINOs can retain/gain power is thru lying, cheating, stealing, and being shielded by the D.O.J.

  6. I’m sure the SCOTUS decision on Rowe v Wade helped the Dems, and the mad rush to outlaw abortion in some states made it worse. The MSM is going all-out to bolster the Dems and I’ve heard Zuckerberg is also investing big in Dems. I’m a bit disturbed by EVER-Trumpers going after Republican politicians, declaring every second GOP politician a RINO, and Fox News as communist. Conservative voters need to unite before November and shoot for 100% turn-out. .

  7. B.S………… Fake false narrative attempt to sway public opinion. The dems are so predictable, and it infuriates me that they think we are all so stupid that we believe this.

  8. The Democrats must be terrified if they are calling out their press and pollster allies this far ahead of November. And Biden even tried the old “throw money at them” tactic yesterday with the forgiveness of $10K per student loan. You guys should stop printing this crap.

  9. Say it time and again – mcconell has already ceded the senate to the libtards and the repukicants DO NOT know how to unite under one flag. I highly doubt they will be in cahrge of ANY branch of the gummit, PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. This was before O’Biden cancelled student loans for thousands. I know that will not set well with Americans that paid their own college as well as people that didn’t go to college but now are forced to pay other people’s bills.
