On Tuesday, President Donald Trump announced the inaugural meeting of his administration’s Homeland Security Advisory Council (HSAC) — assembling a slate of high-profile figures to help shape U.S. national security strategy at a pivotal moment.

The council includes:

  • Mark Levin, conservative talk radio host and Fox News commentator
  • Henry McMaster, governor of South Carolina and longtime Trump ally
  • Beau Dietl, a former NYPD detective and current CEO, representing private-sector security expertise

Trump also tapped Rudy Giuliani, former New York City mayor, for a seat on the prestigious council.

The Washington Times has additional details:

Also on the list of 22 appointments are Chris Cox, founder of Bikers for Trump; conservative broadcaster Mark Levin; and Corey Lewandowski, a confidant of Mr. Trump and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.

The council, established in the wake of the 2001 terrorist attacks, has become a political football in recent years.

The Biden administration booted most of the members in 2021, reforming it in the vision of then-Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

Revived on Tuesday and set to convene July 2 in Washington, Trump’s HSAC signals a bold pivot toward uniting government and private expertise amid growing global and domestic threats.

“The council is composed of homeland security experts committed to fulfilling President Trump’s agenda,” said a statement from Trump’s team.

A Broader Security Vision

The White House’s announcement reflects a broader post-2020 trend of closer collaboration between the government and private sector on homeland security — covering everything from cyber threats and border security to civil unrest and global instability.

By bringing together a diverse mix of media influencers, elected officials, and seasoned law enforcement leaders, the new Homeland Security Advisory Council is poised to function both as a policy-shaping force and a clear signal of Trump’s national security priorities heading into the second half of 2025.
