Court-Approved FBI Operation Targets Fulton County Elections Office

Federal agents with the FBI are carrying out a court-authorized action at a Fulton County elections office in Atlanta, Georgia, according to major news outlets.

The activity was reported to involve executing a search warrant tied to records connected to the 2020 presidential election, which was won by former President Joe Biden. Authorities have not yet confirmed the specific nature of the warrant or the documents involved.

The action is widely understood to be tied to the Department of Justice’s lawsuit seeking access to sealed 2020 election ballots and related materials that election officials have refused to release. Fulton County has consistently argued that those records are under court seal and cannot be released without proper legal authorization.

DOJ attorneys have argued that the records are needed to assess compliance with federal election laws such as the National Voter Registration Act and the Help America Vote Act; the county has maintained it has complied with all legal requirements and rejects what county leaders describe as ongoing scrutiny of the 2020 election.

No official public statement with detailed facts from the FBI or DOJ press offices confirming what specific documents or materials are being sought has been released at this time; federal agencies often refrain from commenting on sensitive or ongoing law enforcement operations.

CBS News reports:

The agency confirmed that its agents were “executing a court authorized law enforcement action” at 5600 Campleton Fairburn Road, the site of the Fulton County Elections Hub & Operations Center.

The center, which opened in 2023, serves as a storage space for election equipment and office space for multiple Fulton County agencies.

Last year, the U.S. Justice Department sued the Fulton County Board of Registration and Elections and Clerk of Courts Che Alexander, arguing that they had failed to comply with a subpoena requesting all “used and void ballots, stubs of all ballots, signature envelopes, and corresponding envelope digital files from the 2020 General Election in Fulton County.”

It is not clear if that lawsuit and request for information was connected with the search.

Local officials, including the county chair, have pushed back against federal pressure, saying they will follow the law and that election integrity has been repeatedly validated by audits and recounts.

Isn’t Fulton County the same county that acknowledged 345,000 questionable votes were counted in 2020? And the county of Fanny Willis? Sounds like a pattern here.
