As reported by Police 1, California Assembly Bill 742 seeks to ban the usage of police canines for arrests and crowd control.
The complete list of banned action outlined in the bills are the following:
- The use of K-9s for arrests, apprehension or crowd control
- No LEOs using an unleashed K-9 to arrest or apprehend a person, and
- No K-9s will be used in any circumstance to bite.
President of the Western States Police Canine Association and retired Modesto, CA PD lieutenant told KCRA.com that the bill “makes no sense.”
“It’s a tool and it’s something that, if we take it away, you’re just eliminating one more non-lethal weapon for law enforcement,” Cloward said.
The use of police canines would not be banned “for purposes of search and rescue, explosives detection and narcotics detection that do not involve biting.”
Canines are commonly used by law enforcement agencies across the country in their daily work on patrol, as well as in special security protocol situations.

About damn time! This is one of VERY few things kommiefornia does right! Police animal use equals animal ABUSE and pigs should not be allowed to use dogs in any unconstitutional way (99% of what pig dogs do is unconstitutional and george washington himself would shoot the dogs and the pigs abusing them)!!!!!!
