Over the weekend, Fox News’ Neil Cavuto and Republican strategist and Fox News contributor Karl Rove took Donald Trump to task for veering off-topic, in their opinion, during his campaign. Rather than capitalizing on his strong economic record, they argued, Trump has disproportionately focused on personal grievances and conspiracy theories. Cavuto noted that Trump has a solid argument regarding his administration’s tax cuts and deregulation, but instead, he keeps revisiting claims that the Democrats are preparing to steal another election. Cavuto remarked that Trump is “all over the map,” discussing everything but the issues that could win him votes from undecided voters.
Rove’s Warning: Time Is Running Out
Rove echoed Cavuto’s frustration and added a touch of sarcasm, quipping about Trump’s focus on topics like the fate of “Fluffy and Fido” in Springfield, Ohio. He then delivered a critical message: time is the most precious resource on the campaign trail, and Trump is wasting it. While more money can be raised and more issues introduced, lost time can never be recovered. According to Rove, Trump is chewing through valuable campaign hours on matters that won’t move the needle for persuadable voters.
The Numbers Don’t Lie?
Rove pointed to recent polling data to support his argument. According to a Fox News poll, Trump’s lead on key issues like immigration has slipped by five points, and his advantage on the economy has shrunk by seven. Voters have made it clear that their top concerns are inflation, jobs, immigration and taxes. In fact, a recent Economist/YouGov poll revealed that 54% of voters consider these issues the most important. Rove warned that if Trump doesn’t regain focus and put forward a clear, future-looking agenda, his shrinking leads could evaporate entirely.
Debate Performance: A Missed Opportunity
Cavuto also questioned Trump’s refusal to acknowledge that his debate performance against Vice President Kamala Harris was widely considered less than stellar. Rove agreed, stating that the Harris campaign’s goal was to provoke him, and unfortunately for Trump, he took the bait every time.
What Do You Think?
So, do Cavuto and Rove have a point? Is Trump wasting valuable time on distractions, or is his approach exactly what his base wants to hear? We’d love to know your thoughts—tell us in the comments below!

I agree with these men. Speak up Mr. Trump and tell us what you are going to do to help the economy! If you leave the Democrats alone, they will destroy themselves!!
Trump’s egotism prevents him from focusing on what will propel him to victory.
My goodness one can hardly think of two more anti-Trump folks as these two has-been analysts. All these Deep State jerks want to do is cast disparities on Trump and his campaign while the Dems are pursuing the two paths available to them: (1) using the media and big tech to run cover for the abysmal Harris campaign; and (2) STEAL THE ELECTION (they did it in 2020).
DITTO HAL E OATES
You are absolutely correct.
He is his own worst enemy, but can’t see it. What is sad is he will probably drag down other “republican politicians” in the election. I have several republican friends that refuse to vote for him just because they can’t stand him. He is in grave danger of losing the election just because of who he is. All the good he did may not get him elected again.
His choice of Vance may not have been wise as people see him as a Trump in training. Nikki Haley would have been a good balance.
Trump’s strategy MAY be what his base wants to hear (as you wrote), but it is not what most conservative independents want to hear, like me. I want solutions!! I would tell Trump to quite whining and use the time I give listening to him to tell me what he is going to do to fix the mess the present administration has created.
He did take the bait every time during the debate. I live in the country & a lot of my redneck friends noticed as well. He needs to hammer on the border, economy, taxes …the basics. We’re trying to support him, we need him or our country that we love will not survive & kids & grandkids will never know it like we did.
Cavuto is a liberal pos along the lines of Chris Wallace. Rove is a tool of the Bush’s and has never gotten over Trump thrashing Jeb so bad. Rove’s TDS is sickening.
I guarantee Trump wouldn’t take advice from either of these TDS sufferers.
I totally agree with Cavuto & Rove. I’m so upset about the debate. Trump lost in my opinion.
He has to put his ego aside & see that Kamala was on the offense & she baited him the entire time. She knew all she had to do was attack him personally. It got him angry & he had to defend himself the entire debate. He should’ve seen what she was doing right off the bat & stopped reacting to it. She hit him on his rallies & he took the time to defend his ego & lost valuable time to answer the question. He has to get better at this. I’m sure his advisors warned him but he doesn’t listen. His ego gets in his way. I’m upset cuz if he loses the election, we’re all going to suffer for it. We need him as Pres. He’s gonna lose this cuz of his ego & that’s not fair to all of us who have supported him. Will someone close to him tell him the truth – that he lost last nite! He’s quoting bogus polls that say he won & they’re not accurate in the public’s eyes. He needs to win women voters & people who are still on the fence. Last nite hurt getting those voters.
Follow their advice and stop whining about the past issues. He is smart not to debate because he cannot control his temper and the dems know it. She was well coached and he was not because he is to too overconfident and his ego gets in the way. Go forward with what you can achieve regarding the economy, tax savings, resuming building the wall, and all the good points. Forget the silly, childish remarks and get totally serious. I still plan to Make America Great Again with my vote.
Donald Trump needs to be presidential now more than ever. Stop being a bully! He has so much going his way. Point to Harris’ weaknesses — and there are many! Stop with the nicknames. Just indicate that she has flip-flopped, who can believe her, she does not have leadership qualities, she has far-left leanings and does not care about the middle class at all. She is an empty suit with the ability to read a teleprompter but cannot stand on her own two feet.
He will win if he follows this advice.
As for JD: tomorrow he has to say: I made a big mistake talking about Haitians and cats — it was another trick of the fake news and I fell for it. There is an issue with Springfield Ohio but it is that it is too small to absorb that many immigrants. We need to follow immigration laws and accept immigrants bases on LAWFUL immigration. As for the single cat ladies, he needs to say it was a dumb mistake, he apologizes — and, now let us proceed with the debate!
regarding the debate……. BUT…..SHE never answered ANY OF THE EVEN EZ QUESTIONS……. IMO
Have the 2 of you ever had to put up with the attacks that President Trump has had to deal with. I don’t think so. Crap like what he has had to deal with makes ones mind go into over drive. There are plenty of times you don’t tell the good things about him.
Yes, Mr. Cavuto and Mr. Rove have on-point, legitimate advice for President Trump, who will no longer have a chance unless he listens and acts on the truths of these talented men.
G-d bless America!
Arnie
Cavuto and Rove are not the two you want to hear from regarding anything Trump. I have no desire to actually read what they have to say..
Ridiculous! Trump will trounce Harris. Her record is invincible.
