One of the most popular conservative commentators online appears to be done with the de facto leader of the Republican Party.
At least for the remainder of the primary season.
Dave Rubin, host of “The Rubin Report,” with 2.09 million subscribers on YouTube, became borderline apoplectic after former President Donald Trump’s claim yesterday that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is Dr. Anthony Fauci’s “biggest fan.”

During Wednesday night’s Fox News town hall interview with the Republican frontrunner, Trump responded to attacks from DeSantis over how he handled the Covid-19 pandemic. He accused the Florida governor of praising Fauci and his policies early into the public health crisis.
“If you go back and look at the records, you will see that the biggest fan of Dr. Fauci was Ron DeSantis,” Trump told Fox News anchors Martha MacCallum and Bret Baier. “Then eventually changed when that wasn’t the dessert of the day.”
Rubin, an advocate for the governor, ramped up attacks on Trump following those comments by accusing him of spreading “seriously dishonest bullshit” to his followers on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“This is some seriously dishonest bulls**t. And the fact that this official Trump account shared it is basically straight up evil,” Rubin shared with his 1.4 million followers on X.
“And no, that’s not be being mean to Trump,” he added; “that’s Trump telling his supporters he thinks they are a bunch of morons and can feed them anything.”
Trump and DeSantis have used the pandemic to attack one another for being too soft on government public health policies despite both candidates having opposed those policies while in office.
Four days before the Iowa Republican caucuses, Trump leads the RealClearPolitics polling average at 53.6%. Nikki Haley is in second place with 17.2%, followed by DeSantis at 15.2%.
