DeSantis 2024 Announcement Breaks Twitter Record

-

Ron DeSantis is already breaking records.

The governor's highly anticipated presidential announcement on Spaces literally broke the app.

On Wednesday, DeSantis made the announcement that he was running for president during the Twitter Space, which was hosted by Twitter owner Elon Musk and GOP donor David Sacks, a close friend of Musk's. However, due to the volume of people tuning in, the event was slightly marred by some technical difficulties. (RELATED: Ron DeSantis Officially Files 2024 Paperwork)

“This was by far the biggest room ever held on social ,” Sacks wrote in-part on the platform. “Twitter performed great after some initial scaling challenges. Thanks Twitter Team for adapting so quickly to make history!”

Musk confirmed the news by retweeting Sacks' tweet.

Journalist Ian Miles Cheong tweeted: “Elon didn't have any more than 200k concurrent listeners on his space with the BBC, which had around 3 million listeners after the recording went up. The space with DeSantis was at 701k and it was crashing long before it got to that number. That's the highest it's even been.”

Musk responded, “True.”

Fellow Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump couldn't wait to pounce on the DeSantis announcement, taking special note of the Florida governor's surprising choice to make the announcement on Twitter.

Trump posted a fake Twitter Spaces parody video on following DeSantis' 2024 presidential campaign launch.

“And Ron DeSanctimonious can kiss my big, beautiful 2024 presidential ass. Trump 2024, baby! Let's go,” Trump is heard saying in the video.

DeSantis campaign official Generra Peck said once the Twitter Space ended that officials at Twitter told her they had “hundreds of thousands of people” get into the Twitter Space as it crashed.

DeSantis campaign Press Secretary Bryan Griffin shared that the campaign raised $1+ million in the first hour after launching.

“There was so much enthusiasm for Governor DeSantis' vision for our Great American Comeback that he literally busted up the internet. Washington is next,” Griffin tweeted. “$1 million raised online in one hour… and counting!”

  1. Ron DeSantis hit the ground stumbling and turned his fortune around from would be nominee to wait until last year candidate.

  2. DeSantis could not deal with the stuff that the dems threw at Trump – he does not have the money to fight them and the will to stop them – payback is a female dog.

  3. I personally did not listen because I don’t care what DeSantis does, I am voting for the ORIGINAL, not the copy. But, I have heard nothing but bad reviews by those that did watch, from technical difficulties to BORING and that he
regurgitated nothing but President Trump’s policies, which are great, but they are President Trump’s policies. I am staying with the best candidate that has PROVED he has the balls, fortitude and love of country and people to do the job.
    TRUMP 2024!!!

  4. We can all expect Trump to continue his slash and burn policy. With his stupid comments, and his inability to just keep his mouth closed, all he is accomplishing is making it easy for the democrats to win in this upcoming election cycle. It wouldn’t be a big surprise if the left won back those seats in congress that the GOP won in the last election. Trump is toxic, and the hate for him runs wide and deep across this country. He cannot win the general election in 2024, and will never win another election. Yes I voted for Trump in both 2016 and 2020, but that was then, and things have changed this time around.

    • Whatever you say Skippy, but the one thing that you and the rest of freedom-hating Americans always seem to miss is the fact that America is set up to be a country where the majority rules. And if the majority of Americans want Trump to be their president, then that’s the way it should be. Our country is NOT meant to be ruled by a minority of corrupt tyrants and criminals.
And that’s the greatest thing about living in a free country. If you don’t like the fact that the majority rules, then you’re free to pack your bags and go find some other sh*t-hole country to live in.

  5. DeSantis has the makings of a president but he is not ready. In 2028, he will be after gaining more experience being the governor of Florida. He may think he is ready, but he needs more time, more experience. We need Trump in 2024 & he has proven what he can do & is willing to fight for the american people. We need DeSantis in 2028.

    • Trump has baggage, the court cases and document hiding, plus his personality and talk without thinking turn off a lot of potential 2024 voters. The GOP and we who are American patriots need to win 2024.

  6. So many people logged onto Twitter to see DeSantis that the Twitter servers were over loaded. That show a lot of potential voter are interested in him. Trump now is old news. DeSantis is trending hot.

    • And yet Twitter servers had no problem handling all the other world-wide traffic on their website before, during, and after the DeSantis announcements.
