Despite a glitchy launch as hundreds of thousands of people tried to tune in, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis announced his highly-anticipated presidential campaign on Twitter Spaces.
The governor shared his vision for America during an hour-long conservation hosted by Twitter CEO Elon Musk and tech entrepreneur David Sacks.
Former President Donald Trump and President Biden reveled in the technical difficulties.
However, the DeSantis campaign argues that the massive spike in website traffic proves the governor has what it takes to win a general election.
Many were pleased a Republican candidate embraced a new approach and circumvented the legacy media.
NBC News further reports:
“Gov. DeSantis broke the internet — that should tell you everything you need to know about the strength of his candidacy,” a senior campaign official said.
DeSantis also released a launch video Wednesday evening, saying he was ready to lead a “Great American Comeback.”
“Our border is a disaster. Crime infests our cities. The federal government makes it harder for families to make ends meet. And the president flounders,” DeSantis said in the spot.
