CNN's public relations team tweeted an update, contradicting former host Don Lemon's claim that no one in management contacted him before his dismissal.
The tweet called Lemon's recollection of Monday morning's events “inaccurate.” The behind-the-scenes recap continued, “[Lemon] was offered an opportunity to meet with management but instead released a statement on Twitter.”

One of CNN's most recognizable faces has been relieved of his duties at the network.
CNN “This Morning” anchor Don Lemon announced Monday that he was “informed by his agent” that he had “been terminated.”
In a tweet, Lemon expressed shock that no one “in management” mustered the courage and “the decency to tell me directly.”
CNN confirmed the news, stating:
“Don will forever be a part of the CNN family, and we thank him for his contributions over the past 17 years,” said CNN CEO Chris Licht in a statement. “We wish him well and will be cheering him on in his future endeavors.”
News of Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson leaving his network also broke Monday morning.
