‘Eight is Enough’ Star Adam Rich Dead at 54

The star who portrayed the youngest member of the Bradford clan on the 70s comedy drama “” has died.

, who endeared himself to millions as Nicholas Bradford from 1977 to 1981, was found deceased Saturday at his Los Angeles home.

Rich was 54. Authorities do not suspect foul play.

Unfortunately, “America's Little Brother,” as Rich came to be known, wasn't immune to the curse of the child actor. Following the show's run, he was sentenced to rehab.

His addiction to Valium led to a near overdose in 1989 and his arrest following an instance of vandalism to a pharmacy in 1991 in a desperate attempt to get pills. He was bailed out by his TV dad, Dick Van Patten.

Rich eventually came to shun the spotlight, expressing contempt for celebrity life.

TMZ further reports:

He had other credits as well, including “Code Red” in 1981 and “Dungeons & Dragons” in 1983.

Adam made VH1's list of the greatest 100 kid stars, coming in at #73.

Adam took up acting at Chatsworth High School in the San Fernando Valley. His drama teacher also taught Kevin SpaceyVal Kilmer and other big actors.
