Fired CNN Host Running As Republican For School Board: Report

-

Despite his unceremonious departure from , former ombudsman is exploring new horizons.

Rumblings from suburban suggest Stelter hopes to be a catalyst for change at the local level by being elected to the neighborhood school board as a “Republican.”

Following a nine-year stint as the host of CNN's “Reliable Sources,” then-CNN CEO Chris Licht sacked Stelter in a failed attempt to resuscitate the ratings-challenged news network. (RELATED: Charles Barkley's Threats To Punch Trump Supporters Forces CNN Into Damage Control Mode)

Stelter subsequently joined Harvard University's Kennedy School as a fellow and is now supposedly seeking public office in Hunterdon County, New Jersey – a longtime GOP stronghold.

“Former CNN reporter Brian Stelter is seeking a seat on the Readington Township, New Jersey school board,” freelance reporter Shlomo Schorr quietly posted to X in February, citing reporting from The New Jersey Globe. “The former host of Reliable Sources is one of six candidates interviewing to fill a vacant seat caused by the resignation of Christina Napoli.”

As American News Wire notes, critics of Stelter suspect his GOP affiliation is a ruse to avoid having to compete in the crowded Democratic primary:

The reasoning behind the alleged run didn't need to be known for social users to find the premise hilarious.

Before his termination at CNN, Stelter said that his show was used to educate aspiring reporters in journalism classes worldwide: “It's part of journalism school curriculum,” he claimed. “Teachers across the country, and in other countries outside the U.S., teachers use segments from this show all the time in classrooms, lessons, guiding and teaching the next generation.”
