Kamala Harris’ ’60 Minutes’ Interview Was A Disaster

In the second interview on her media blitz, Kamala Harris sat down with Bill Whitaker for a 60 Minutes interview, and the overwhelming consensus is that she failed.

She not only struggled answering basic and predictable questions, but when Whitaker didn’t accept non-answers, deflections, or canned political babbling, he would often interrupt and restate the question, further flustering her, and in some cases, leaving her visibly frustrated.

Whitaker asked her about her economic plan and the $3 trillion it would add to the deficit, she immediately pivoted to Trump’s plan and flowery language about the middle class and small business.

“Okay, so the other economists who have reviewed my plan versus my opponent’s, determined that my economic plan would strengthen America’s economy, his would weaken it. My plan, Bill, if you don’t mind, my plan is about saying that when you invest in small businesses, you invest in the middle class and you strengthen America’s economy. Small businesses are part of the backbone of America’s economy.”

Whitaker cut her off, repeating the original question. She offered that she would make the rich pay their fair share, asserting that teachers, nurses and firefighters pay higher tax rates than billionaires. Whitaker wasn’t satisfied with the answer, and still sought the substantive and direct answer he had yet to receive. She seemed to revert to rhetoric about the middle class, which she’s turned to a habit in her limited media appearances.

“You know, when you talk quietly with a lot of folks in Congress, they know exactly what I’m talking about, because their constituents know exactly what I’m talking about. Their constituents are those firefighters and teachers and nurses. Their constituents are middle class, hardworking folks.”

Whitaker then went on to question her policy flip flops, and gave her the chance to address them after multiple failed attempts.

“Let me tell you what your critics and the columnists say. They say that the reason so many voters don’t know you is that you have changed your position on so many things. You were against fracking; now you’re for it. You supported looser immigration policies. Now you’re tightening them up. You were for Medicare for all. Now you’re not. So many people don’t truly know what you believe or what you stand for, and I know you’ve heard that.”

“In the last four years, I have been vice president of the United States, and I have been traveling our country, and I have been listening to folks and seeking what is possible in terms of common ground. I believe in building consensus. We are diverse people, geographically, regionally, in terms of where we are in our backgrounds, and what the American people do want is that we have leaders who can build consensus, where we can figure out compromise and understand it’s not a bad thing, as long as you don’t compromise your values to find common sense solutions, and that has been my approach.”

While it may have been a step up from her first interview with Dana Bash and Tim Walz, where she answered that her “values hadn’t changed” after being asked a similar question, it still a concerning answer for many who believe that the time to “build consensus” and “listen to diverse people” is long before entering office — especially at the executive level. Many dismissed her explanation as a cop out.

Whitaker continued to question Harris about immigration — one of her greatest weaknesses heading into November, second only to the economy.

“I’ve been covering the border for years, and so I know this is not a problem that started with your administration. But there was an historic flood of undocumented immigrants coming across the border the first three years of your administration. As a matter of fact, arrivals quadrupled from the last year of President Trump. Was it a mistake to loosen the immigration policies as much as you did?”

Harris responded that it was a longstanding issue and insisted her administration had offered multiple solutions to it before Whitaker interjected to remind her of the original question.

This lady is not qualified to be President. She is not aware of the current state of affairs on the international scene. She is not fit to be Commander in Chief of our military. She was not good as the Attorney General of California. Her treatment of staff as the AG and as the Vice President is terrible.
she will hurt our country and many people will consider moving to another place.

I just can’t imagine people going to vote for Harris after what Biden/Harris has done to our country. Where have they been in almost 4 years.? They have lived with high inflation, millions of illegals invading our country, and on the brink of another war. AND THEY VOTE FOR IT AGAIN.

I have a problem with her running for any office, she is either as dumb as a rock or just stupid. My only regret is some folks can be hood winked and will vote for her simply because she is mix nationality and female. That says a lot about the voters which is sicking.
