Former Vice President Kamala Harris is set to reappear on ABC’s The View next Tuesday, nearly one year after her last visit to the show during the final weeks of her unsuccessful 2024 presidential campaign. Harris, who lost the election in a historic landslide, will use the high-profile platform to promote her forthcoming book, 107 Days, a memoir recounting her historically short presidential bid and her reflections on the administration she once served.

A Political Return to Familiar Ground

Chief moderator Whoopi Goldberg announced Harris’ upcoming appearance on Tuesday’s broadcast.

“She’ll be here, we’ll be here, I hope you’ll join us all, because we want to hear what she has to say,” Goldberg told viewers.

The September 23 appearance marks Harris’s return to daytime TV just ahead of the release of 107 Days, which is already generating buzz — and backlash — for reportedly casting blame on President Joe Biden and senior White House staffers for the failures of her campaign.

Fallout From a Failed Campaign

Harris’s October 2024 appearance on The View — framed at the time as a last-ditch media push before the election — was widely criticized, even by some in her own party. When asked what she would do differently than President Biden, Harris offered a now-infamous response: “There is not a thing that comes to mind,” she said, before doubling down on her role in the administration. “And I’ve been part of most of the decisions that have had impact.”

Critics pounced on the remark, arguing that it effectively tied her to the very record she was attempting to distinguish herself from. Rather than presenting a fresh vision, Harris reiterated shared priorities with Biden. The moment was seen by many strategists as a point of no return in the campaign — one that confirmed voters’ concerns about her political identity and independence.

A Memoir That Points Fingers

According to early leaks and insider reports, Harris’s upcoming book takes a sharply critical tone toward her former boss and the Democratic establishment. 107 Days reportedly portrays Biden’s White House as disorganized, dismissive of her policy initiatives, and resistant to strategic changes she recommended during the campaign.

The book’s title refers to the final stretch of the 2024 campaign, which saw Harris falter in key battleground states and struggle to connect with swing voters, independents, and even segments of the Democratic base. While the full text has not yet been released, early coverage suggests Harris is positioning herself as a scapegoated figure in a campaign plagued by internal dysfunction and strategic missteps.

Prime Time Appearance on Maddow

Harris is also slated to appear on The Rachel Maddow Show the night before her segment on The View, marking her first prime-time interview in nearly a year. Maddow, a staunch progressive voice on MSNBC, is expected to offer Harris a more sympathetic platform — but the conversation may still prove contentious given the stakes of the memoir and its implications for Democratic unity heading into 2026.

What’s Next for Harris?

Harris’s media tour comes at a complicated time for the Democratic Party. Still reeling from the 2024 election loss, party leadership is focused on regrouping ahead of the midterms, where Republicans hope to cement their hold on Congress. While some Democrats view Harris’s post-campaign critiques as counterproductive, others see them as a necessary reckoning with a campaign that failed to connect with the electorate.

Political observers are split on whether this reemergence marks the beginning of a Harris rebrand or the closing chapter of her national political career. Her upcoming appearances could provide clarity — or deepen existing divides.
