Liberal Firebrand Announces Break From ‘The View’

“The View” co-host Joy Behar announced Tuesday that she will be taking a brief hiatus from ABC’s daytime talk show — temporarily stepping away after years of attacking President Donald Trump and Republicans on-air.

Behar revealed the news during the show’s “Behind the Table” podcast with producer Brian Teta.

“This is your last podcast for a little bit, because next week you’re not going to be here,” Teta told Behar.

The liberal co-host explained that she’s heading to Europe to perform in her play, My First Ex-Husband, in London and Paris.

“I fly to Paris this week, and then I go take the tunnel to London after a week, and I’ll be in London a second week doing my play,” Behar said. “We have Jackie Hoffman and I [playing] the two American women talking, then we have two British actresses. Doesn’t that sound like fun?”

While Behar is away, “The View” plans to rotate in several left-wing guest hosts, including frequent Trump critic Kara Swisher and “The Talk” host Sheryl Underwood. Ana Navarro and Whoopi Goldberg are also expected to take on expanded roles during Behar’s absence.

Behar has spent years establishing herself as one of television’s loudest anti-Trump voices. She previously compared Trump’s supporters to a “cult,” accused Republicans of “destroying democracy,” and routinely mocked conservatives on-air during heated political segments.

Following Trump’s 2024 victory, Behar lashed out at voters who supported him, suggesting Americans ignored what she called his “corruption” and “criminality.” She has also repeatedly accused Republicans of embracing “fascism” and “authoritarianism” while defending left-wing narratives pushed by ABC’s daytime panel.

Critics have long argued that “The View” functions less as a daytime talk show and more as a platform for anti-Republican activism, with Behar frequently leading the attacks.

Nancy grew up in the South where her passion for politics first began. After getting her BA in journalism from Ole Miss she became an arts and culture writer for Athens Magazine where she enjoyed reporting on the eclectic music and art scene in Athens, GA.

However, her desire to report on issues and policies impacting everyday Americans won out and she packed her bags for Washington, DC. Now, she splits her time between the Nation’s Capital and Philadelphia where she covers the fast-paced environment of politics, business, and news.
In her off time, you can find Nancy exploring museums or enjoying brunch with friends.
