Liz Cheney Hints At Possible 2024 Presidential Run

-

Former Wyoming Rep. suggested in a recent interview that she might run for president in 2024, even though the bruising primary process began months ago.

Cheney made the surprising remarks during an interview with on 's “State of the Union,” where she discussed the current state of the election.

“I haven't endorsed anybody in this presidential race, certainly would never support . And we know what Donald Trump will do, because he's telling us every day. And anybody who has spent any time overseas, who has spent any time studying the history of autocracies and of autocrats knows we have to listen to what Donald Trump's saying,” Cheney said.

Tapper proceeded to ask if she was considering joining the race for the White House.

“I haven't made any decisions about it yet. I'm going to do whatever is necessary to defeat Donald Trump,” the Wyoming Republican responded.

Cheney continued to reiterate her commitment to defeating Donald Trump. “I'm not going to make any announcements or endorsements this morning. But the most important thing is to defeat Donald Trump, and I will do whatever, whatever it takes to do that.”

She also used the appearance to call out what she has labeled the 's “Putin wing.”

Responding to the apparent murder of Putin critic , Cheney told Tapper “We have to take seriously the extent to which you've now got a Putin wing of the Republican Party. I believe the issue this election cycle is making sure that the Putin wing of the Republican Party does not take over the West Wing of the White House.”

Cheney went on to call Trump's recent comments on Russia, the United States and NATO “dangerous” and said they show “a complete lack of understanding of America's role in the world.”

Later in the show, Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) spoke in support of the former president and argued that a second Trump term would benefit both America and the world.

“When you ask the question about keeping Putin in check, you look at the actions and the administration of Donald Trump, and you come to one clear conclusion that without question, was safer, the world was safer, and America was certainly safer,” Scott said, while casting Biden as a weak and ineffectual leader.
