A CNN interview on Tuesday between host Kaitlan Collins and Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) became heated as Cotton criticized Collins for misrepresenting a Senate vote on a bill related to in vitro fertilization (IVF).
During the opening of her show, Collins stated that Senate Republicans had blocked a bill that would “guarantee access to IVF nationwide,” a move that she said Democrats were using to criticize Republicans.
Cotton pushed back immediately, saying, “I have to correct almost everything you said in the lead-in there, almost none of which was accurate about this bill.” He explained that access to IVF is already guaranteed in all 50 states and claimed the bill covered more than just IVF, including controversial procedures like cloning and gene editing. He also raised concerns about the bill's potential impact on religious liberty.
As Collins attempted to interject, Cotton refused to stop, accusing her of misrepresenting the bill. “No Kaitlan, you're not going to stop me there! Because you're misrepresenting what the bill is about,” Cotton said forcefully, further escalating the tense exchange.
