President Donald Trump sharply rebuked CBS News White House correspondent Nancy Cordes on Thursday after she questioned his blame of former President Joe Biden for the entry of the man accused of shooting two National Guard members in Washington, DC, the day before Thanksgiving.
Fox News reported Friday that Cordes pressed Trump on findings from the Department of Justice inspector general, which she said indicated “thorough vetting by DHS and by the FBI” of Afghans admitted under Operation Allies Welcome. The suspect, 29-year-old Rahmanullah Lakanwal, entered the U.S. through that program in 2021 following the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan.
Cordes asked the president, “Why do you blame the Biden administration?”
Trump fired back: “Because they let him in. Are you stupid? Are you a stupid person? Because they came in on a plane along with thousands of other people that shouldn’t be here. And you’re just asking questions, because you’re a stupid person.”
The president continued, “There’s a law passed, it’s almost impossible not to get them out. You can’t get them out once they come in.”
Suspect Accused of Targeted Attack
Lakanwal allegedly opened fire Wednesday afternoon near the Farragut West Metro Station, striking two newly sworn-in members of the West Virginia National Guard: 20-year-old Sarah Beckstrom, who died Thursday, and 24-year-old Andrew Wolfe, who remains hospitalized in critical condition.
According to U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeannine Pirro, both guardsmen were deployed as part of Trump’s executive order to strengthen security in the nation’s capital. Pirro said Lakanwal used a .357 Smith & Wesson revolver and drove from Washington State to carry out what she described as a targeted attack.
Lakanwal, now in custody, was himself shot and wounded by other Guard members.
White House Response and Immigration Actions
Trump has linked the attack directly to the Biden administration’s handling of Afghan parolees, asserting that the 2021 evacuation brought “thousands of other people that shouldn’t be here” into the country. In response to the shooting, he has announced new plans to permanently halt migration from “Third World nations” and to revoke Biden-era admissions.
The attack has intensified political scrutiny on Operation Allies Welcome and has fueled Trump’s calls for sweeping changes to immigration and vetting policies.

Of course, the left-wing media is spinning this the opposite way. They are no doubt the propaganda arm of the far left in this country.
Although I think the reporter is pushing Trump in the way she asked her question, He is the president and should have the demeaner of a president , and not stoop to calling names. He could have been upset , and still responded in a way that answered her with the facts without lowering himself to call her stupid. It is an inappropriate action for the President of the United States, and He needs to learn to communicate on the level of the President .
Trump is right about CBS News White House correspondent Nancy Cordes. She is either “stoopid” or is trying to bait him. I wouldn’t let her back in . Just exactly what did Bye-den’s gov’t do that might be considered “thorough vetting.” ?
