Good morning.

A frightening security breach rattled NBC’s Today show after an intruder allegedly lunged at one of its anchors, a Republican senator is threatening to grind Senate business to a halt over President Trump’s election legislation, and newly released FBI documents are reviving questions about a decades-old investigation into Hillary Clinton’s brother.

Intruder Allegedly Lunges at NBC Anchor Inside 30 Rockefeller Center

Chaos erupted behind the scenes at NBC’s Today show Thursday morning after an intruder allegedly slipped past security and entered a restricted area of 30 Rockefeller Center.

According to reports, the unidentified man followed co-anchor Craig Melvin inside from the show’s public plaza shortly after 9 a.m. He then entered a stairwell and made his way toward the backstage dressing rooms while asking for longtime meteorologist Al Roker.

When he failed to find Roker, the man allegedly lunged at Melvin while shouting a racial slur.

Staff members and security personnel intervened and detained the intruder until New York police arrived. No injuries were reported.

The confrontation did not appear on the live broadcast. Melvin and Roker returned to the air roughly 15 minutes later without mentioning the disturbance.

Behind the scenes, however, the incident reportedly left employees shaken and demanding answers about how an unauthorized person managed to move from the public-facing plaza into secure corridors used by NBC talent.

The NYPD said officers responded to a report of a disorderly person and took one individual into custody. The suspect had not been publicly identified, and possible charges remained unclear as the investigation continued.

Tillis Threatens to Stall Senate Over Trump Election Bill

Sen. Thom Tillis is warning fellow Republicans that he will use procedural tactics to slow Senate business if the House sends over another attempt to enact President Trump’s election-security agenda before the November midterms.

The retiring North Carolina Republican said the latest proposal would impose changes too sweeping for states to implement responsibly before voting begins.

The SAVE America Act would establish national proof-of-citizenship and voter-identification requirements while tightening rules surrounding mail-in ballots. Trump has made passage of the legislation one of his highest priorities and has repeatedly urged Republicans to hold up other bills until Congress acts.

Tillis’s opposition is notable because he supports voter identification and previously co-sponsored an earlier version of the SAVE Act. His objection apparently hinges on timing and implementation rather than the broader goal.

He argued that election administrators would not have enough time to update registration systems, train workers, inform voters, and enforce the new requirements without creating confusion.

FBI Files Reveal Investigation On Hillary Clinton’s Brother

Newly released FBI records reveal that Anthony “Tony” Rodham, the late brother of Hillary Clinton, was connected to a 1996 federal investigation into potential wire and mail fraud tied to a proposed business importing Romanian vehicles.

Judicial Watch obtained 77 heavily redacted pages through a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit after years of delays. The FBI previously acknowledged possessing more than 13,000 potentially responsive pages, along with audio and video records.

According to the released documents, investigators examined a company called East European Imports, which solicited deposits from prospective American auto dealers for exclusive rights to sell Romanian ARO vehicles.

Dealers were reportedly asked to pay at least $30,000 upfront, with the total franchise cost reaching nearly $70,000. FBI records stated that no vehicles had been imported and that there was little likelihood they ever would be.

The files say Rodham traveled to Romania with company associates and may have helped them secure import rights. Investigators also documented allegations that he continued promoting the business despite being told its financial statements submitted to Romanian officials were fraudulent and inflated.

The documents do not show that Rodham was charged with a crime. Still, their release is likely to renew questions about the investigation, the FBI’s lengthy delay in producing the records, and what remains hidden in the thousands of pages that have yet to be disclosed.
