Will the GOP ultimately sweep the 2024 contest?
Democrat Colorado Rep. Yadira Caraveo conceded her reelection race to Republican Gabe Evans on Sunday.
The close race for Colorado’s 8th Congressional District still has not been called by The Hill/Decision Desk HQ.
“It’s been the honor of a lifetime to serve the people of Colorado’s 8th district. I came to Congress to get things done, and have spent the last two years working to find common ground and bipartisan solutions to the most pressing issues facing our community,” the first-term congresswoman said in a statement Sunday.
Caraveo praised her supporters and the “diverse, people-powered campaign that brought together a coalition of Democrats, Republicans, and unaffiliated voters.”
“While this isn’t the outcome we had hoped for, the work is not over,” she continued. “I look forward to returning to Washington to finish out this term and will continue to be an independent voice for the people of this district.”
Shortly after Caraveo’s concession, Evans posted a statement saying he’s eager to serve his future constituents and thanking his wife, his campaign staff and his opponent.

“I am incredibly humbled to be chosen as the next Congressman for Colorado’s 8th. It is an honor to be entrusted with the job of representing you and your families, and I am ready to fight back for a better direction for all Coloradans,” Evans wrote.
“Thank you also Congresswoman Yadira Caraveo for your service and gracious concession. I look forward to working with her and her team to transition this office over the next few months,” he added later.
The latest race puts Republicans within reach of the majority in the House.

This is a joke. The Republicans had control of the House before the election. They won the Presidency and the popular vote. They should be gaining 30-40 seats. This shouldn’t even be close. Same for the Senate. Trump won all the swing states. how can he not win those Senate seats. They are saying that Republicans did not vote for the down-ballot races. Somebody needs to check this. We need to poll Republican voters and see how many did that, and then compare the numbers. Something is seriously wrong here. And we need to investigate this before the election are certified.
There seems to be something much larger than the scope of this article. I am discovering that the only difference between the heart of the politician and the average, everyday world citizen is that the first advertises publicly while the second keeps their affairs in smaller circles. We make proclamations and declarations that sound enticing and which look good on the outside, but the heart is hidden and broken. There was a time when America was more other-centered, but today, it is filled with self. We put our faith in government. We look to the promises of men. We talk of peace while we prepare for war. Very few men are like a flower that when crushed, exudes its hidden, beautiful aroma. There is an amazing bird that always sings; the Nightingale sings when it is free; it sings too when it is put in a cage. It is a Nightingale through and through. Man sings when things go well for him, when he believes he is accountable to no one—but when he is restrained, he no longer sings. Very few men are the same on the outside as they are on the inside. We see it especially revealed in the politician. We say we do not trust them, but we are no different; we just keep our skeletons from public view. That’s who we are. That’s us!
