New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) isn’t showing any signs of remorse.
Or, at the very least, the public backpedaling hasn’t begun quite yet.
Appearing on WINS 1010 news radio Friday, Adams defended his aggressive confrontation with a woman during a Wednesday town hall meeting in Washington Heights after the subject of housing came up.
At one point, Adams accused the woman of behaving like a “plantation owner.” The 84-year-old tenant activist also happens to be a Holocaust survivor.
While critics say Adams was wrong to accuse the woman of racism, host Susan Richard wanted to hear his side of the story.
As Mediaite reports:
“Things got pretty heated during a town hall in Washington Heights where housing came up, and you had likened a woman who was criticizing you to acting like a ‘plantation owner.’ Now, some say you went too far — What do you say?” she asked the mayor.
“Well, some can say that, and her behavior was acting in a disrespectful way, and I’m just seeing this disrespect that we’re seeing, not only locally but nationally,” Adams answered.
“Disrespect to police officers, disrespecting religious groups when they are in our city, disrespect to everyday people who deliver services — and it needs to stop. You know, I came from a family that — my mom made it clear — never allow someone to be disrespectful to you.
“That woman interrupted a meeting where all the participants were acting respectfully and cordially, to get their issues heard — She disrupted that. And then she was degrading in how she communicated with me. I’m not going to allow civil servants to be disrespected, and I’m not going to be disrespected as the mayor of this city. I’m the representative of this city, and we need to start having a better dialogue on how we communicate with each other, both locally and nationally, on how we communicate,” Adams insisted.
Juan Rosa, the director of the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials, confirmed the woman’s identity in a tweet:

remember obama constantly threw Israel and the Jewish Community under the bus. they still voted for him and even today they will still support the dems. I have always said the Jewish community in the US are nothing like those in Israel or the rest of the world.
Lets hope it goes that way and maybe NYC can rid themselves of stupid fools like him. He needs to remember that respect is earned, and he’s a long way from earning any.

Respect has to be earned. You can not expect to demand respect, no matter what your position, and that especially applies to politicians and bureaucrats.

Sounds like he tried playing the race card on someone that in no way had anything to do with slavery and might even “one up” him on being part of a genocide. When your only qualifications are the color of your skin and your mama taught you to make sure no one ever disrespected you (as opposed to the Christian notion of turning the other cheek) this is what you get. So far, I have seen nothing to persuade me that this guy deserves any respect for anything. He has not improved New York City or done anything other than spout the democrat line and play the victim.
Eric Adams has proven himself to be a major nutcase and an incompetent! A vegan, breathing exercises in schools, no change whatsoever in the abysmal state of crime and education in NYC, A total, unmitigated disappointment and disaster. Vote the bum out!
