The Democratic National Committee (DNC) found itself subject to widespread online ridicule Thursday after posting — and quickly deleting — a social media graphic that unintentionally highlighted how grocery prices soared during President Joe Biden’s time in office.
The post, made on X (formerly Twitter) by the account @TheDemocrats, featured a line graph comparing prices of everyday grocery items such as cheese, dairy, alcohol, produce, and meat, stretching from October 2019 through 2025. The chart clearly showed a dramatic spike in costs beginning around the start of Biden’s presidency in 2021.

Despite the image being labeled “Trump’s America,” the data overwhelmingly displayed inflation under Biden’s leadership, with the sharpest increases taking place in the post-2021 timeframe. The caption read: “Prices are higher today than they were on July 2024 all in major categories listed below,” without citing a source for the data.
The post was quickly deleted after widespread criticism and mockery from users across the political spectrum, many calling it a major misstep in messaging — and a clear acknowledgment of how prices have changed under Democratic leadership.
“I don’t know … Kinda looks like Biden’s America,” one user wrote.
“Might be the biggest self-own I’ve ever seen on this website,” added another.
Conservative commentator Kyle Becker called it “one of the dumbest posts in @X history.”
Even the White House’s rapid response team took advantage of the messaging failure by reposting the same graph — but with arrows and labels pointing to “Trump” and “Biden” segments of the timeline.
Inflation in Focus
The incident highlights a broader political vulnerability for the Biden administration. Inflation surged to levels not seen in four decades during Biden’s term, peaking at an annual rate of 9.1% in June 2022, according to federal data. Food prices alone increased more than 22% since January 2021, when Biden took office.
By contrast, grocery prices under President Donald Trump rose modestly, by just 0.6% during his presidency — a point often repeated by Trump campaign surrogates.
The Political Fallout
While the DNC has not formally addressed the deleted post, its rapid removal suggests recognition that the graphic undermined the party’s own narrative on the economy. The episode has become ammunition for Republicans who have long criticized the Biden administration’s handling of inflation, supply chains, and energy policy.
In the wake of the 2024 election, economic concerns remain top of mind for voters. A recent Gallup poll found that 72% of Americans cited the cost of living as a major concern — a number that both Republicans and Democrats must be mindful of going into 2026.

It take a least a year for any political changes to affect food prices in the grocery store. You’re still paying Biden prices. BTW, have you bought any gas lately? It doesn’t take as long for those prices to change, so you’re paying Trump prices there..
Too funny! Typical that they would blame others, but not themselves.
