Following a longshot bid for the White House, North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum (R) has announced he will not pursue another term as governor.
“Serving as governor and first lady of the great state of North Dakota has been one of the most incredible and rewarding experiences of our lives. Kathryn and I are eternally grateful to the citizens of North Dakota for twice giving us this opportunity to serve the state we love so much,” Burgum said in a statement.
Burgum, 67, did not say in his statement what his next steps would be or whether he would retire
“There's never been a better time to live, work and raise a family in North Dakota. Our state is extremely well-positioned for the future thanks to the efforts of everyone on Team ND to empower people, improve lives and inspire success,” Burgum said in his statement.
Despite Burgum's disappointing results in the presidential contest he endorsed former President Donald Trump in his efforts to return to the White House and has joined the former president on the campaign trail.
