How to Defeat Woke, Inc.

Arguably the most important lesson I learned at CPAC this weekend came about during a panel discussion on the emergence of woke corporate capitalism.

Understanding this phenomenon provides invaluable insight into how Marxist tactics are on full display in society today.

Unfortunately, the strategy employed by the Left isn’t new. Center-right Americans have ignored or marginalized it for far too long.

The origins of modern liberalism’s divide and conquer strategy to separate people into groups of oppressors and oppressed, victimizers and victims and the bourgeoisie and proletariat originated in the 1960s.

The National Center for Public Policy Research Vice President Justin Danhof and former Trump administration officials Mercedes Schlapp and David Bernhardt held a panel discussion to break down this social justice scam.

Understand and Appreciate What Politics Means to the Left 

Though not explicitly stated, their underlying message was unmistakable: Understand and appreciate what politics means to the Left.

As conservatives, we may think blind idolatry to absolute power, breathtaking naivety towards America’s rivals and total intolerance for political opponents makes progressives weak. While their policy prescriptions are undoubtedly disastrous, underestimating their willingness to fight in the political arena comes at a heavy price.

For Republicans, Election Day typically comes once every two years. Yet, for leftists, the prospect of looming elections remains at the forefront of their consciousness. For the politically conscious, it constantly affects their decision-making.

We see this play out every day as progressive activists pressure businesses to comply with their demands. Meanwhile, pro-American investors remain largely silent at shareholder meetings.

Leading these shoe-leather lobbying campaigns are dozens of affinity groups relentlessly leveraging their influence on fortune 500 companies.

Justin highlighted their effectiveness by systematically going through Facebook and Twitter’s increasingly punitive actions against conservative consumers. Among others, they include algorithmic changes and suppression of legitimate news articles (such as the genuine possibility that insufficient safety procedures at the Wuhan Institute of Virology led to the COVID-19 pandemic).

We Have a Choice to Act

He added, “there’s no organized pressure from the other side.”

But it doesn’t have to stay that way. We always have a choice to act.

By studying Saul Alinsky’s playbook “Rules for Radicals,” the far-left came to understand how to manipulate the power of institutions and the state to advance radical ideas espoused by a minority.

However, in doing so, they gave us those tools as well.

Firstly, to understand the state of our country, conservatives must acquaint themselves with four documents:

• The Declaration of Independence
• The Constitution
• The Port Huron Statement
• Rules for Radicals

“Rules for Radicals” presents the theory behind community organizing and lays the groundwork for far-left tactics that activists have used with devastating effectiveness.

There is a reason Barack Obama called “Rules for Radicals” his Bible when he was a community organizer on Chicago’s South Side. There is a reason why Hillary Clinton wrote a 97-page thesis on Saul Alinsky, who she met many times.

Understanding Alinsky’s Rules

The outline of Alinsky’s rules isn’t a substitute for reading “Rules for Radicals.” However, it is a good primer.

Rule #1

• “Power is not what you have, but what your enemy thinks you have.” 

Rule #2

• “Never go outside the experience of your people.”

Rule #3

• “Go outside the experience of your enemy.” I.e., keep your enemy off guard.

Rule #4

• “Make the enemy live up to their own book of rules.” Catch them lying or exaggerating; force them to address even minuscule gaffes.

Rule #5

• “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.” E.g., Sarah Palin.

Rule #6

• “A good tactic is one your people enjoy.”

Rule #7

• “A tactic that goes on too long becomes a drag.”

Rule #8

• “Keep the pressure on.”

Rule #9

• “The threat is usually more terrifying than the action itself.”

Rule #10

• “The major premise for tactics is the development of operations that will maintain a constant pressure upon the opposition.” (politics isn’t a battle, but a war)
• Politics represents only one aspect of our lives for those on the Right. For the Left, it is a full-time profession. 

Rule #11

• “If you push a negative hard and deep enough, it will break through into its counter-side.” 

Rule #12

• “The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative.”

Rule #13

• “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, polarize it.” Try to make your target radioactive, e.g., pro-Trump Republicans.

The Modus Operandi of the Left is a Lie — the Answer is the Truth

While the modus operandi of the Left is a lie — the answer is the truth.

You can cut their legs out from under them if you call them on it.

For Mercedes, Justin and David, conservative Americans are doing just that. For all his character flaws, Donald Trump did show conservatives the value of fighting. 

Regarding Big Tech, David saliently mentioned the emergence of “pro-American” alternates to Silicon Valley from Truth Social to GETTR.

He added that “at the end of the day, if you have a better product, you’re probably going to get it to market.”

That remains true of American capitalism, which Justin said remains “the greatest economic system devised by mankind to lift people out of poverty.” He ended with a clarion call, urging the audience to counter the proliferation of left-wing activism, “Let’s kill the cancer of wokeness and save the host.”

Don’t forget that. Even if you only own one share of stock, you can make your voice heard at a shareholder meeting. Even if you aren’t familiar with political campaigns, you can door knock on behalf of a candidate and have a greater impact than 99% of the electorate. The tools to initiate positive changes are there. You have to know where to look.
