Senate Republicans have elected Mitch McConnell as minority leader following a last-minute challenge from Florida Senator Rick Scott.
A majority of GOP senators voted to elect McConnell leader after a motion backed by Sen. Ted Cruz and other conservatives to delay the leadership election until after the Dec. 6 Georgia runoff failed.
Florida Senator Rick Scott officially announced he’s running to unseat Mitch McConnell as Senate Minority Leader in a Tuesday afternoon letter to Senate colleagues.
Sen Scott, who chairs the National Republican Senatorial Committee, has been at odds with McConnell for most of this year over political strategy.
Scott announced his campaign in a letter to Senate Republicans on Tuesday:
“I’m writing to you today because I believe it’s time for the Senate Republican Conference to be far more bold and resolute than we have been in the past. We must start saying what we are for, not just what we are against,” Scott said in a letter to GOP colleagues. “I do not believe we can simply continue to say the Democrats are radical, which they are. Republican voters expect and deserve to know our plan to promote and advance conservative values. “
Scott added: “For those who want to get serious about ending reckless government spending and the devastating inflation it has caused, finally take action to protect Social Security and Medicare and preserve the promise of these programs for our children and grandchildren, hold government accountable from the FBI to the IRS, truly combat the extreme danger posed by Communist China and refocus our military on lethal defense instead of woke nonsense, I ask for your support in changing the direction of the Senate and rescuing America from the dangerous path Democrats have set it on.”

This isn’t a good beginning for the Republicans who have vowed to make changes: “For those who want to get serious about ending reckless government spending and the devastating inflation it has caused, finally take action to protect Social Security and Medicare and preserve the promise of these programs for our children and grandchildren, hold government accountable from the FBI to the IRS, truly combat the extreme danger posed by Communist China and refocus our military on lethal defense instead of woke nonsense” as Senator Scott said. We the people have high expectations now and our hope is that the promises made are promises kept. If Republicans want our support in the future they must step forward today and make changes. McConnell would have been a great place to start. While he does have a great knowledge of how to deal with the dems, his refusal to support candidates for this years election with the money needed to compete was unforgiveable. And there need to be consequences for this betrayal.

McConnell was responsible for saving one seat for Republicans on the Supreme Court- demonstrating toughness.
Now he needs to lead to remove the Abortion issue from the Republican agenda because that issue is the stealth cause of the loss of women’s votes that is the primary reason that Trump lost the previous presidential election; and upended the expected red sweep in this latest congressional election.
Suggested language: “Republicans now support the right of women to make the final decision on her pregnancy without coercion by jackboot control-freak government authorities,” or similar language. This must apply to Hershal Waker’s current runoff election in Georga, or he will lose that Senate seat to the democrats. Please forward this message to Sen. McConnell.

I was praying that maybe we finally had an opportunity to get rid of back stabbing, Democrat loving McConnell who only wants to line his own pockets. They’ve been blindsided again.
