Mitch McConnell Taps Rising Star to Fill Notable Leadership Position

-

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has reportedly tapped Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) to serve as a counselor to the Senate Republican leadership team.

“North Carolina and the whole country benefit from his service and I'm glad he's taking on this new leadership role,” McConnell said in a statement to Fox News Digital.

The counsel position isn't an official role but McConnell has historically offered one or two counselor positions to rank-and-file members of the Senate to have a seat at the leadership table.

According to reports, Sen. Tillis has emerged as a skilled negotiator over the past two years of Biden's presidency. The North Carolina lawmaker has co-sponsored a number of bills addressing the southern border and fallout issues related to the border crisis in the last .

Last week, Tillis joined a bipartisan group of senators for a tour of the southern border.

“There is a humanitarian and security crisis raging at the southern border, with historic illegal entries and massive amounts of dangerous being smuggled into our country due to failed policies and enforcement coming from Washington,” Tillis said in a press statement announcing the trip.

  1. Now all we have to do is get rid of the turtle. He is a dis functioning useless Rino who has messed up all the opportunities for the GOP.

  2. Benedict Mitch Judas McConnell is up to something and it can’t be good! I can only think that Tillis is a thorn, a threat to Benedict Mitch or a true conservatives that Benedict Mitch has to, in his mind and in strategy, change this guy. He has to corrupt him somehow or throw him into the Swamp. No other reason for Benedict Mitch.

  3. Sounds like when your boss doesn’t want to give you a raise, so he gives you a phony title, with a hardy handshake. McConnell neutered the conservatives in December by passing that abomination of the spending bill. Why was it OK to keep Garland from the Supreme Court because of the short election cycle, yet it was OK to vote for the spending bill just before the new house was in? It is because McConnel votes for his self interest first, the country is secondary to him.
