After winning the South Carolina primary by 20 points over Nikki Haley, even Donald Trump's most ardent supporters couldn't resist booing his ally, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.).
Upon taking the stage to celebrate his projected victory, Trump took a jab at President Biden and half-jokingly wished the presidential election would occur tomorrow. Fellow South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott (R) then delivered a short but energetic speech to the crowd, which was well-received.
Despite Trump's expressed “love” for the man, his next guest was not welcomed.
Mediaite's Aidan McLaughlin described how despite Trump's efforts to calm the crowd, ruthless booing of Graham continued the entire time he spoke:
“No, no. Remember,” Trump said, but the boos continued. “I love him, he's a good man. Come up here Lindsey,” Trump said.
“America, the nightmare you are facing is just about over,” Graham said, to some cheers but loud boos.
Trump returned to the microphone and quickly moved on.
Trump shouting out South Carolina GOP Chair Drew McKissick also prompted loud boos, to which Trump replied: “We have a highly opinionated group of people!”
