America’s 48th vice president called on his fellow contenders for the 2024 Republican nomination to come together and back at minimum a 15-week ban on abortions.

Pence shared the following remarks with a crowd gathered today for the Faith and Freedom Coalition’s Road to Majority Conference.

“Some say the Supreme Court returned the abortion issue only to the states, and nothing can be done at the federal level. Others say continuing the fight for life is too risky, blaming the pro-life movement for a poor performance at the ballot box in 2022.

But I say we must never shrink from the great moral cause of our time. And I will never rest or relent until the sanctity of life is returned to the center of American law.

Every Republican candidate for president should support a ban on abortions before 15 weeks, as a minimum nationwide standardThis is a reasonable and mainstream standard – nearly every nation in Europe has a limit of 15 weeks or less. Today, American abortion policy has more in common with China and North Korea than it does with the nations of Europe – and it is time for that to change.”

Pence is just one of the 2024 contenders addressing attendees of the Faith and Freedom Coalition’s Road to Majority Conference taking place today and tomorrow at the Washington Hilton in the nation’s capital.

At both the start and end of his speech, Pence toed a fine line, both harkening back to the four years he spent as Donald Trump’s vice president, while also stating that there is a need for new leadership.
