Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky.) is once again raising alarms about wasteful government spending, previewing his annual Festivus report during a Friday appearance on Fox News with Sean Hannity. The libertarian-leaning senator, known for his critical stance on federal spending, warned that taxpayer money is being funneled into what he describes as bizarre and frivolous projects—such as “ice skating drag queens” and “taxpayer-funded magic.”
Paul’s Festivus report, due to be released on December 23, is a comprehensive breakdown of what he considers wasteful federal expenditures. In a conversation with Hannity, Paul revealed some of the eyebrow-raising examples featured in this year’s report. The Kentucky senator didn’t provide specific figures for each of these expenditures but did promise that the total amount of waste discussed in the report would be “in the hundreds of billions.”
Hannity was visibly shocked when Paul brought up the concept of “ice skating drag queens” as part of the wasteful spending. “Slow down,” the Fox News host said. “Ice skating — Alright, how much money are we spending on the ice skating drag queens?”
While Paul did not provide a specific dollar amount for the ice skating drag queen performances, he emphasized that it was just one example in a larger trend of extravagant and unnecessary grants. These grants, Paul argues, are often used to fund activities that fall far outside the scope of what should be considered government priorities.
In a further twist, Paul pointed out that the government has also spent money on border projects—but not where taxpayers would expect. “There’s money for the southern border, but not the southern border of the United States, for the southern border of Paraguay,” he said. This example underscores the senator’s long-standing critique of foreign aid and what he perceives as misguided priorities in U.S. foreign policy. The Biden Administration has actually spent millions to leave the American border wall incomplete.
In the interview, Paul also discussed his involvement with DOGE, focused on identifying and ultimately eliminating wasteful government spending. The group, which is led by entrepreneurs Vivek Ramaswamy and Elon Musk, will help President-elect Donald Trump implement his proposed federal budget cuts. According to Paul, he has been in regular communication with Ramaswamy and has already sent over 2,000 pages detailing wasteful government spending.
While Trump has made promises of massive cuts to federal spending, Paul’s reports and his partnership with DOGE may serve as a blueprint for identifying areas of unnecessary expenditure.

Thank you Sen. Paul for getting involved with DOGE, this will help them put things together faster. I left Musk a note on X, that they need to cut off Pelosi’s alcohol that we are paying for at the Capitol building.
