Following an automatic recount, Freedom Caucus member Lauren Boebert can finally breathe a sigh of relief.
On Monday, Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold announced Boebert defeated Democrat challenger Adam Frisch by 546 votes.
“Republicans have been entrusted with the majority, and we must now prove we can take the temperature down in DC by leading not only with strength but grace,” Boebert said Sunday after the counties in her district completed their recounts.
“Our conservative policies will help all Americans to overcome the challenges we face so each of us has the opportunity to live our very best life,” she tweeted.
Boebert's closer-than-expected victory echoes a similar trend seen by other “MAGA” candidates across the country who experienced close wins or saw losses after projections expected them to cruise to victory.
Ultimately, the GOP emerged with a razor-thin 222-seat majority in the House while Democrats gained a seat in the Senate. However, the Democrat Party's would-be 51-seat Senate majority unexpectedly dissolved when Arizona Senator Kyrsten Sinema‘s decided to switch and register as an independent last week.
Last month, Frisch who calls himself a “moderate Democrat” conceded the race to Boebert but the state's election laws triggered an automatic recount.
