Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas) is under scrutiny after an off-hand remark caught on a hot mic after an interview at the Alliance for Responsible Citizenship (ARC) conference in London last week raised eyebrows. Following a discussion of the Russia-Ukraine conflict with GB News’s Steven Edginton, Crenshaw appeared to threaten conservative commentator Tucker Carlson, stating that if the two were to ever meet in person, he would “probably kill him.”
The exchange occurred after Edginton posed a question about the U.S. spending $100 billion on aid to Ukraine. He referenced Carlson’s frequent criticism of such spending, specifically his argument that those funds could have been better spent addressing issues within the U.S., such as the border crisis. Crenshaw, who has been an ardent supporter of U.S. assistance to Ukraine, dismissed Carlson’s viewpoint.
“Tucker doesn’t know what he’s talking about,” Crenshaw responded. “Tucker likes to visit Moscow and talk about how great the grocery stores are, so I don’t really take his advice very seriously.”
After the interview ended, Crenshaw was recorded off-camera saying, “No seriously, I would kill him” when asked about a potential face-to-face encounter with Carlson. The journalist took to social media (X) to share the incident, initially dismissing it as a joke but noting that Crenshaw’s words were troubling nonetheless.
The controversy escalated when Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) asked Crenshaw if he had “threatened” Carlson’s life. Crenshaw quickly denied the accusation, but post-interview footage revealed the shocking exchange. In the video, Edginton asks Crenshaw if he’s ever met Carlson, to which the congressman responds, “We have talked a lot over Twitter — if I ever meet him I’ll probably kill him.” He followed up by calling Carlson “the worst person” before walking off-camera.

Carlson wasted no time responding to the remark. On social media, he invited Crenshaw to appear on his show for an interview. “Why don’t you come sit for an interview and we’ll see how you do? I’ll send you my address, @DanCrenshawTX,” Carlson posted, addressing Crenshaw’s comments with a mix of defiance and an offer to resolve the issue in person.
Crenshaw’s remark is just the latest chapter in the long-running feud between the Texas congressman and Carlson. Carlson once famously dubbed Crenshaw “Eyepatch McCain” due to his hawkish stance on military and foreign policy issues, particularly his unwavering support for the U.S. intervention in Ukraine. Crenshaw has made sarcastic comments in the past about Carlson’s departure from Fox News, joking sarcastically that he had “shed many tears” over the loss of the pundit’s show.
