The House of Representatives on Wednesday approved a war powers resolution aimed at ending unauthorized U.S. military involvement in Iran, marking the most significant congressional challenge yet to President Donald Trump’s handling of the conflict.

The measure, sponsored by Rep. Gregory Meeks (D-N.Y.) invokes the 1973 War Powers Resolution and would require the administration to obtain explicit authorization from Congress before continuing hostilities against Iran, except in cases involving an imminent threat to the United States. The vote followed months of growing bipartisan concern over a conflict that began in.

Jasmine Crockett used a congressional hearing about the Biden-Harris administration’s failures (including initiatives designed to increase broadband access) to deride President Trump as an under-qualified white man while lauding Vice President Harris as a qualified black woman.

The Daily Caller reports:

The House Oversight and Accountability Committee held a hearing Thursday among lawmakers in order to address the “consequences of the Biden-Harris administration’s policy failures.” During the hearing, Crockett called out Federal Communications Commissioner Brendan Carr’s testimony addressing diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) broadband rollouts, citing an article that discussed the “limited success” as it had no mention of diversity.

“Here’s the deal. You’ve testified a lot about the problem with the broadband rollout being diversity, equity and inclusion. You said DEI I don’t know how many times, which is one of the issues that Project 2025 takes issue with. But it’s interesting to me because I have another article from the Texas Tribune, and it actually specifically states that internet providers say they are simultaneously hopeful and skeptical about whether the incoming federal dollars will be enough to connect the most underserved Texans,” Crockett continued. “Historically, other federal rural broadband funding programs have seen limited success because many companies who committed to providing broadband went into default after radically underestimating their cost. It doesn’t say anything about diversity. And the final thing that I will say — ”

Carr interjected, “Do you know why the costs have increased?”

Carr may have been referring to the illegal practices spearheaded by the Biden-Harris administration that were supposed to increase internet access in “marginalized communities.”

The Daily Caller explains:

The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), part of the Department of Commerce, is responsible for allocating $42.5 billion in funds intended to bolster the United States’ broadband internet infrastructure through the Broadband Equity Access and Deployment Program (BEAD) program. The agency, in a move to expand high-speed internet access to low-income communities, has been attempting to force states to adopt price controls for broadband services provided through the new projects, a strategy experts say could be illegal.

Crockett showed no interest in his explanation, and didn’t allow him to finish his thought. She instead took the opportunity to draw a comparison between the current presidential election.

“I didn’t ask you a question! The final thing that I will say is that this election is the best example of why y’all are so afraid of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Because then you can’t have a simpleminded, underqualified white man somehow end up ascending. Instead, you’ve got to pay attention to the qualified black woman that is on the other side, and with that I will yield.”

The Daily Caller continues:

During his testimony, Carr criticized the Biden-Harris administration for pushing a $42 billion initiative known as the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment program (BEAD). Carr stated Harris was behind the initiative to “pursue a climate change agenda, DEI requirements, technology biases, price controls, preferences for government-run networks,” despite the potential that it will “leave rural and other unconnected communities behind.”

In a hearing earlier this year, Crockett got in a heated exchange with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene that drew many criticisms of her professionalism and brought into question her qualifications as an elected official.

She asked Greene, “Do you know what you’re here for?”

Greene responded, “I don’t think you know what you’re here for. I think your fake eyelashes are messing up what you’re reading.”

After a commotion, Crockett asked, “I’m just curious, just to better understand your ruling, if someone on this committee then starts talking about someone’s bleach blonde bad built butch body, that would not be engaging in personalities, correct?”

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna tried to put an end to the back and forth, but Crockett continued.

“I’m trying to get clarification! Because this is what y’all do!”

Several congress members attempted and failed to gain control of the room.

She said, “Don’t tell me to calm down because y’all talk noise and then you can’t take it! If I come and talk shit about her, y’all gon’ have a problem.”

She then went on to sell anti-Marjorie Taylor Greene merchandise referencing the exchange, and claimed she was doing so to “save democracy.”
