Rep. Don Bacon, R-Neb., is threatening to work with Democrats to select the next speaker of the House.
Bacon represents Omaha in Congress and has a 65% lifetime rating from Heritage Action. The moderate Republican explained in an op-ed for the Daily Caller why he would work with Democrats if the five Republicans who have opposed McCarthy continue to refuse to budge.
Per Mediaite:
“I support Kevin McCarthy, but a small handful of people are holding us hostage,” Bacon writes to kick off the op-ed, which also has a “counter point” column published on the website.
“The vast majority of the conference knows we can’t cave to the few when the demands are unreasonable. The immediate gridlock by this handful threatens the entire GOP, the House and will delay the operations of the 118th Congress,” Bacon adds, referring to demands that include passing a rule allowing any single member to call for a vote of no confidence in the speaker.
Bacon goes on to cite his history as a “retired brigadier general who served nearly 30 years in the Air Force” to explain his stance:
I know how important it is to rally the team behind a common goal. Teams can’t make perfection the enemy of good.
Bacon added that a closed-door conference meeting vote proved McCarthy has the support of more than 95% of the House Republican conference.
Bacon is one of a handful of Republicans representing a district won by Joe Biden in 2020.

Donald Trump would be an ideal non-establishment speaker but if the establishment republicans would not support him then Jim Jordan is the next best choice. McCarthy cannot be trusted; you might as well just have a RINO be speaker if you can’t get behind a true person that is interested in working for the benefit of US Americans not the bureaucrat establishment people causing so much harm to our country.

By his threat, retired General and now Congressman Bacon just proved that Kevin McCarthy is a Leftist in disguise, something patriots have suspected all along. We have seen how the self-serving dirty DEMs and their co-conspiring RINOs are all-ahead full in their charge to destroy America. McConnell in the Senate was bad enough. Putting McCarthy in charge of the House will allow these two political hacks to advance the Leftists’ cause at the expense of taxpayers and especially American Patriots who cherish the US Constitution.
