Ron DeSantis to Stump for Trump-Endorsed Candidates as Democrats Fear His Rise to the Top

-

Governor will reportedly travel to multiple states this month to campaign for key -endorsed candidates.

DeSantis is planning to travel to New Mexico, , Pennsylvania and Ohio this month to participate in rallies being organized by Turning Point USA. The popular governor will stump for key candidates including Ohio Republican candidate for Senate JD Vance, Pennsylvania's GOP gubernatorial candidate Doug Mastriano, Arizona Republican candidate for Senate Blake Masters and GOP nominee for governor Kari Lake.

According to Fox News:

“Gov. DeSantis is America's governor and one of the most popular leaders in America,” Charlie Kirk, founder and president of Turning Point Action, told . “He has become the model for a new conservative movement that is willing to stand on principle and to actually fight on behalf of the values of his voters.”

Kirk added: “That he is willing to throw the full weight of his support behind Kari, Blake, and JD tells you everything you need to know about these incredible candidates who I endorse and support 100%.”

Kirk said he believes Lake “will be the Ron DeSantis of the West, and Blake and JD will help break apart the uni-party consensus in Washington D.C., to stop the endless wars, the runaway spending and put an end to the cocktail party Republicans who seem to be good at one thing only – betraying their voters.”

“Doug Mastriano has become a true champion of the grassroots in Pennsylvania and Rep. Yvette Herrell is poised to hold her critical seat in New Mexico's 2nd congressional district,” Kirk continued, adding that DeSantis has “the unique ability to unite conservatives around these candidates.”

Lake told Fox News she believes DeSantis has set the “gold standard” for conservative governance and looks forward to working with him.

DeSantis' tour to help “unite” the will surely send a shiver down Democrats' spines, as it provides a further example of his rising power within the party.

Some Democrats have already read the writing on the wall and have begun to label the Florida governor as a “scarier” opponent than Trump in regard to the next presidential election. One political strategist predicted DeSantis could be the real candidate faces off against, which could ultimately pose a serious threat to Democrats.

According to The Hill:

“To me, DeSantis is the scarier prospect,” one Democratic strategist said. “He's a smarter version of Trump, he's way more strategic, and he doesn't have a hundred lawsuits at his feet.“

“If Trump goes bust, and he very well may, he's the main guy I'd be watching,” the strategist said of the Florida governor.

However, while it seems many conservatives are trending toward supporting DeSantis' eventual bid for the , some Republican lawmakers are still holding out. Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney, who voted to impeach former President Trump, says she's concerned about DeSantis, especially his relationship with the former president.

Cheney, who is currently facing a fierce reelection battle, told New York Times reporter Jonathan Martin that while she may support a Republican in 2024 it definitely won't be Trump and she's not convinced by DeSantis either.

“I think that Ron DeSantis has lined himself up almost entirely with , and I think that's very dangerous,” Rep. Cheney said.

What do you think? Is DeSantis' star rising within the GOP enough to take him to the White House? Is DeSantis still playing second fiddle to Donald Trump? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below!

  1. If Trump does not run, DeSantis will be the overwhelming leader in the conservative movement, which is certainly different than the Republican party. The Republican party joined the Democrats years ago. People like Lindsey Graham and my own senator John Cornyn talk conservative but they lean liberal, as they like the approval of the cocktail party elites and the NY Times. I plan to work again Cornyn when his next election comes up. I am seriously considering a campaign to recall him.

  2. The more pro-Constitution people that get into office the better. Most GOP and ALL dems are pro-war, pro-tax, pro-big government

    • There is too great a danger that in running for VP under Trump, that ticket will lose and hand the White House to the Democrats for another disastrous four years. Trump could beat Biden, but Biden will not be the nominee.

The Dems will put forward someone younger than Biden, and more congenial than Kamala. I expect the nominee to be Gavin Newsome or someone of his ilk.

Remember that while Biden could turn the baton over to Kamala, she is fundamentally unlikable, and probably won’t win a single primary. Whoever looks good and can string a full sentence together will likely beat her in the Primaries. Even Michelle Obama would beat Kamala in every single primary. Running against Gavin, Michelle, Gov. Pritzker, Gov. Brashear or Fauxcahontas, Pres. Trump’s baggage could drag him down. Much better for the Republican Party to run with a fresh face, such as that of Gov. DeSantis as the Presidential nominee, not VP.

  3. Why pick between the two, have them both team up. Can you imagine Thump as president and DeSantis as Vice President or the other way around! Wow what a powerful team they would be!!!👍👍👍

  4. GOOD MOVE UNITY IS MOST IMPORTANT. WE HAVE TO STOP THE DEMOCRAT COMMUNIST PARTY.
DESANTIS AFTER TRUMP GETS TWO TERMS AS PRESIDENT AND AMERICA COMES BACK TO LIFE. THE ONLY THING WE WILL EVER BUY FROM CHINA AGAIN IS THE WON TON SOUP. http://WWW.TICKETOCKEE.COM TWO BEST TV SPOTS FOR TRUTH. NEWSMAX AND EWTN. THE BEST OPTION IS ADOPTION. NO ONE GETS HURT. EVERYBODY GETS LOVE.

  5. Practically speaking, DeSantis would be a better candidate than Trump. There are a lot of people who wouldn’t vote for Trump because they don’t like his personality or mean tweets (even if they like the way he governed). DeSantis does not have that liability.

Everyone who would vote for Trump would vote for DeSantis if Trump isn’t in the race. Plus, DeSantis would get extra votes from those who like Trump’s policies, but not Trump. The two would probably govern exactly same, so why wouldn’t we want the candidate who would garner more votes and therefore be more likely to beat a Democrat candidate?

    • Because Trump was fraudulently removed from office and deserves to be given the office back to clean up the swamp. DeSantis would have the same problem Trump had his first term and would not have the support he needs. Trump knows now what to expect and has his ducks in a row to start cleaning house from day one. That includes getting criminals in government arrested and making them stand trail on their illegal activities!!

      • I understand your point about a “make-up” for Pres. Trump, but the fact is that DeSantis is a lot smarter about personnel selection than Pres. Trump. It was Pres. Trump who appointed two attorneys general who failed to fight the swamp in the fashion we needed. It was Pres. Trump who kept James Comey on as FBI Director, even as Comey was inserting a knife between Pres. Trump’s ribs. It was Pres. Trump who appointed Christopher Wray as successor FBI Director, who spectacularly failed to clean house there, and who now must be behind the raid on Mar a Lago. It was Pres. Trump who appointed careerist Gina Haspel as CIA Director. And now it’s President Trump whose support of Dr. Oz secured the Rep. nomination for the Pennsylvania Senate seat, and who will likely lose to Fetterman, whereas any other Republican would be winning that contest. I admire Pres. Trump for a number of things, but personnel selection is simply not his strong suit.

  6. The constitution requires that the president and the vice-president must be from different states. Both Trump and DeSantis are residents of Florida.

    • Thank you for pointing that out. I had forgotten about that provision of the Constitution. In any event, I don’t expect DeSantis to be willing to abandon the governorship of the nation’s third largest state in order to take a mostly useless position that has been compared to “a bucket of warm spit.”

  7. I think Trump should select Marsha Blackburn as running mate if he runs in 2024 (most likely he will). She would add some charm to the interpretation of his tweets, and can handle controversy well too. She’s a fighter but one you can’t help but like. That would leave DiSantis for 2028 who I think would pair well with Elise Stefanik as VP. It would also leave her ripe for the first female President in 2036.

    • I like Marsha just fine, but she will have little to no appeal outside the South. Tennessee will vote Republican in 2024 regardless. The VP pick should be someone who looks good, can debate well, would add balance to the ticket and who could pull a state into the GOP column that might otherwise vote Dem. Specifically, I’m thinking Adam Laxalt if he wins his bid to defeat Cortez Masto in the Senate race.

  8. The comment attributed to Liz Cheney with respect to DeSantis shows she is not a Republican. DeSantis is the arch type Republican leader we should all be supporting. He says what he means, he acts according to his promises/word, and he stands up to the bullshit from the Left on a daily basis.

  9. It appears a giant red wave will wash over the country in November. I sure hope so, but if it happens, what then? The red wave would bode well for the chances of taking back the White House in 2024. Though Donald Trump has not announced his candidacy, it certainly appears to me that he is already running. If so, he is a shoe in for the Republican nomination.
Who should be the nominee for VP? The conventional wisdom is to nominate someone who will “balance the ticket.” Joe Biden did exactly that with Harris. Male-female. Black-white. East coast-west coast. What that bought us is the worst VP in history who may be called upon to replace the worst President in history. (By the way, once you get past those two, the next in line is Nancy Pelosi. I don’t know how it could get worse.)
If Trump does not run, Ron Desantis is the probable nominee; also a great choice. What would be best for the Republican party and the country in the long run? I believe the best possible VP for Trump would be DeSantis. The VP seat has traditionally been a launching pad for the presidency. Imagine the long-term impact on the country of four years of Trump followed by eight years of DeSantis.
The only potential downside I can see is that DeSantis and Trump are both from Florida, which would unbalance the ticket. Dick Morris has been saying on TV that the VP doesn’t matter, that Trump is so strong he will get elected no matter who the VP is. If Morris is right, and I believe he is, would the party not be better off looking to the long-term benefit of the VP choice rather than the short-term of helping the primary candidate get elected?

  10. dugwindad, actually you are wrong from a strictly leegal standpoint, but right from a practical perspective. The constitution DOES NOT prohibit the presidential and VP nominees from being from the same party. What it does say is that electors in the Electoral College cannot vote for two people from their state. In a close election, this could eliminate Florisa’s 29 votes for Trump or DeSantis which could leave one elected and the other in limbo. It almost happened with Bush/Cheney.

  11. Ron DeSantis is Donald Trump with the ability to tell Demorats to go to hell and make them look forward to the trip.

  12. Liz Cheney is not facing a “fierce reelection battle.” She has already lost, big time As reported by the Casper paper (https://trib.com/news/state-and-regional/govt-and-politics/the-poll-results-are-in-hageman-holds-commanding-lead-over-cheney/article_1f33dfe0-02f1-11ed-8202-7befc0111031.html), her approval ratings are at Biden basement levels, with Mrs. Hageman gaining nearly double the number of people who plan to vote for her as compared with those committed to vote for Liz Cheney – even including the many Democrats who are temporarily changing parties for the sole purpose of helping Liz snag the “Republican” nomination.

I think that Gov. DeSantis is planning on participating in this rally just for the sheer fun of pummeling Ms. Cheney’s service in the cause of the Left. I don’t even particularly like Donald Trump, and blame him for the narcissism and lack of discipline with his mouth that led directly to his 2022 loss. (Regardless of mules and even the MSM’s suppression of the Biden corruption story, Trump could have won easily if he had just controlled his insulting tweets and oversized ego.) But Liz Cheney’s virulent attacks on Trump serve the agenda of the anti-American Left far more than they do anything to “save our Constitutional Republic.”

  13. For those of us who live and vote in Florida, we are torn between wanting Desantis for another term as Governor and seeing him make a run for President.
Either one, he is the man for the job.
We would just hate to lose him as Governor.
He does not do what is easy, he does what is right!
