President issues sharp response while details surrounding Giuliani’s medical emergency remain unclear…
Rudy Giuliani, the former New York City mayor and longtime ally of President Donald Trump, has been hospitalized in critical but stable condition, according to his spokesperson.
The 81-year-old Republican figure — once dubbed “America’s mayor” for his leadership after the September 11 attacks — was admitted to a Florida hospital in recent days.
The exact cause of his condition has not been publicly disclosed. Spokesperson Ted Goodman described it as a serious and sudden health issue, prompting calls for prayers.
President Trump reacted quickly, criticizing Democrats in a social media post and accusing “radical left lunatics” of treating Giuliani “so badly.”
“Our fabulous Rudy Giuliani, a True Warrior, and the Best Mayor in the History of New York City, BY FAR, has been hospitalized, and is in critical condition,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “What a tragedy that he was treated so badly by the Radical Left Lunatics, Democrats ALL — AND HE WAS RIGHT ABOUT EVERYTHING!”
The post came shortly after reports of Giuliani’s hospitalization emerged Sunday night.
“Mayor Rudy Giuliani is currently in the hospital, where he remains in critical but stable condition,” Goodman told Fox News. “Mayor Giuliani is a fighter who has faced every challenge in his life with unwavering strength, and he’s fighting with that same level of strength as we speak.”
Giuliani had appeared on his show “America’s Mayor Live” just days earlier, noting he was “under the weather” as his voice faltered during the broadcast.

As the New York Post reported, Trump wasn’t the only one reacting:
Former Mayor Eric Adams wished Giuliani a speedy recovery, adding that he was saving a cigar for him once he’s released from the hospital.
“Mayor @RudyGiuliani devoted his life to this city, from his days as a federal prosecutor to leading New York through 9/11. He was there when we needed him most,” Adams wrote on X. “I’m praying for Rudy and his family and hoping for a full recovery.
“We shared a cigar in Florida not too long ago. I’m saving one for when you’re back home, my friend.”
Others quickly weighed in, highlighting Giuliani’s enduring role in national politics.

When I was 10 years old, I had a class project to deliver an oral report on a person. I chose the then-mayor of NYC, Rudy Giuliani.
I called in to WCBS's Ask The Mayor, & he took the call. Obviously we ended up talking about the Yankees.

Giuliani, who will turn 82 on May 28, is scheduled to celebrate his birthday the following weekend at an event on Long Island open to supporters.
He was previously hospitalized in August 2025 after a car accident in New Hampshire in which he suffered a fractured vertebra.
Giuliani rose to national prominence following the September 11, 2001, attacks and was later named Time magazine’s Person of the Year.
In later years, he served as Donald Trump’s personal attorney and played a key role in efforts to challenge the results of the 2020 election.
Reports in 2025 indicated a confidential settlement in a $1.3 billion defamation lawsuit brought by Dominion Voting Systems over false claims related to the 2020 election. He was also granted a presidential pardon for federal offenses in November 2025.
