President Donald Trump has amended his lawsuit against CBS and 60 Minutes, increasing the damages sought from $10 billion to $20 billion.
The lawsuit, originally filed five days before the 2024 presidential election, stems from allegations that CBS deceptively edited then-Democratic nominee Kamala Harris interview to present the gaffe-prone candidate in a more favorable light. Trump’s legal team argues that the network’s actions amount to “election interference,” misrepresenting Harris’ qualifications and swaying voter perception at a critical moment in the race.

Allegations of Media Manipulation
Trump’s attorneys claim CBS selectively edited the interview transcript to mislead the public, asserting that the network engaged in a deliberate effort to harm Trump’s campaign. According to the lawsuit, the edits were designed to influence public opinion just as polls showed Trump with a narrow lead.
“President Trump brings this action to redress the immense harm caused to him, his campaign, and tens of millions of citizens in Texas and across America by CBS’s deceptive broadcasting conduct,” the lawsuit states.
Settlement Talks in Motion
By late January, reports surfaced that CBS’ parent company, Paramount Global, had entered discussions to settle the lawsuit. The New York Times reported that Paramount’s controlling shareholder, Shari Redstone, supports resolving the case, even as concerns mount over the implications of such a high-profile media concession.
Paramount is currently negotiating a pending sale to Skydance Media, and Redstone is said to be weighing the financial and reputational risks of the lawsuit against the potential benefits of a swift resolution. Critics argue that settling a $20 billion lawsuit with a sitting president would be an extraordinary move, especially given the absence of clear evidence that the network’s coverage directly harmed Trump’s reputation considering his decisive presidential victory.
For now, the case remains ongoing, with legal and political ramifications destined to play out in the coming days and weeks.

If twenty thousand people received one million dollars out of this settlement, could that help victims of Mother Nature’s wrath? Think about this and how victims are left behind.
How about one million people each receive 20 thousand dollars each? Why should only one million get the help?
If you shoot someone, you cause them physical harm and can be charged with murder. If you shoot and miss, you can still be charged with attempted murder. Not quite as serious but still a punishable charge. Just because he won due to bad polling announcements on the leftist media and was actually way ahead in many polls, does not give the media the right to edit the interview to try to convince voters that she wasn’t as dumb as she projected herself to be in the original interview or that they should vote for her if they wanted to be on the winning side!
