Trump Reveals Plan To Top Biden’s $26M Fundraiser

-

Former President has an ambitious plan to significantly outperform President 's record-setting Thursday night fundraiser by hosting his own mega fundraiser next Saturday at .

The event will be hosted by billionaire hedge fund manager , an asset management executive credited with making “one of the biggest fortunes in history.”

A spokesperson for Paulson confirmed the news to The Hill:

The event is expected to raise $33 million, topping the amount Biden netted on Thursday at Radio City Musical Hall in New York City.

The Financial Times was the first report the news.

“The response to our efforts has been overwhelming, and we've raised over $33 million so far. There is massive support amongst a broad spectrum of donors. The dinner is relatively small in nature, and we are almost at our cap,” Paulson said in a statement.

Trump's campaign has been looking to make up the fundraising gap against Biden. The Biden campaign ended February with $71 million cash on hand, according to federal campaign filings, compared to the Trump campaign, which ended with the quarter with $33.5 million in the bank. Though those figures don't include money from super PACs.

The Biden campaign recently attempted to goad Trump into responding after reports that his campaign has hemorrhaged money to keep pace with the former president's legal fees.

Despite trailing Trump by an average of 3.2 points in battleground states, Biden's advisers are confident that they can overcome this deficit with the Democrats' current financial advantage.
