President Donald Trump said his New Year’s resolution is “peace on Earth,” making the remarks on Wednesday while speaking alongside first lady Melania Trump at his Mar-a-Lago property in Florida.
Asked whether he had a resolution for the coming year, the president replied, “Peace. Peace on Earth.”
The White House’s official rapid response account later shared a Fox News post on X featuring a clip of the comments, describing the Trumps as “The President of Peace — and the most stunning First Lady in history.”
The comments come as Trump approaches the first anniversary of the start of his second term. He was sworn in on January 20, 2025, putting the milestone less than a month away.
Since returning to office, Trump has repeatedly emphasized peace as a central theme of his foreign policy, even as his administration has overseen a range of military actions. The White House has said the president’s approach is supposed to promote stability while maintaining American strength.
Trump’s administration has sought to broker peace between Ukraine and Russia, as well as between Israel and Palestine. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said a peace deal is close following a meeting with Trump, though territorial issues remain a key sticking point.
At the same time, the US military has carried out numerous strikes in 2025 under Trump’s leadership. These have included actions against vessels described as belonging to “narco-terrorists,” strikes targeting ISIS in multiple countries, and an attack on the Islamic Republic of Iran undermining its nuclear weapons ambitions.
In a post shared on X last week, the State Department said, “President Trump has ushered in a new era of peace through strength. Because of his commitment to the cause of peace around the world, America is respected again on the world stage.”
Trump has frequently framed his foreign policy as balancing military power with diplomatic efforts, arguing that strength is necessary to achieve lasting peace.

I applaud FOX news in their analysis of POTUS Trumps goal of Peace on Earth. If he can negotiate that they he is perhaps the best POTUS we have had in the last 50 years. In regards to the “narco-terrorists” that operate out of South America, which nation is claiming them? If any nation claims them then all foreign aid to that nation from the USA should be also cut off at it is a sponsor of deadly terrorisim through drugs. Take bold steps, which POTUS Trump is doing, to slow, stop, and eliminate the trafficing, then eliminate the sources, which he will do. Lets return this nation to a safe place to be again. Unless we defend our borders we are not a nation, just a dumping place for all the criminals, insane, and misfits, plus terrorists to exploit with deadly crime and health problems. Borders were made to protect the citizens of a nation against foreign invasion of many kinds. Instead of fighting the one man, the POTUS, why doesn’t Congress join with him in his efforts to serve and protect all the citizens of the USA, before even thinking of foreign nationals who are entering illegally, against the criminal underworld that exists within our nation, the drug problems, and the fraud and corruption of those who have exploited our welfare systems making it the largest drain on our economy. Imagine getting that solved and having our taxes cut by 20-30 or 40%. IS anyone against that?
