Former President Donald Trump was still thinking about the first Republican presidential primary debate while celebrating the 150 million impressions his interview with Tucker Carlson received on X.
Trump posted on Truth Social until 2:20 a.m., gleefully slamming his rivals, except for Vivek Ramaswamy.
Ramaswamy, who – like Trump – is not a career politician, won over the crowd multiple times.
Naturally, Trump took notice. Offering effusive praise on Truth Social, the former president wrote, “This answer gave Vivek Ramaswamy a big WIN in the debate because of a thing called TRUTH. Thank you Vivek!”

Mr. Ramaswamy was Mr. Trump's most ardent defender during the debate and repeated his pledge to pardon Mr. Trump if he is convicted of a federal crime.
The mutual respect could spur talk of a Trump-Ramaswamy 2024 ticket, but it is early and each candidate insists they are gunning for the presidential nomination and not second-place.
A CNN voter panel gave Mr. Ramaswamy high marks right after the debate Wednesday, though some critics said his style will turn off suburban voters and that his remarks were too light on Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Former U.N. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley attacked Mr. Ramaswamy over his opposition to U.S. military aid for Ukraine.
“You have no foreign policy experience and it shows,” Haley chided Ramaswamy.
Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie compared the 38-year-old entrepreneur to former President Barack Obama, who forged ahead with his 2008 presidential campaign despite having relatively little experience.
“I'm afraid we are dealing with the same type of amateur,” Christie said.
Ramaswamy mocked Christie's criticism, asking if he wanted a hug – a pointed reference to when Christie hugged Obama weeks before the 2012 presidential election after Hurricane Sandy.

There were probably less people watched this show than there are that goes to a movie theater. Sadly, Trump included, it looks like the GOP doesn’t have a strong field of candidates, and that probably means that the democrats will keep the white house and senate, and regain the house. That will prove to be a breeding ground for the millions of people that think this government is beyond repair and are ready for that second American Revolution that has been talked about for several years now. The left wingers would like that so they could call out the military and crush all opposition to them, and then go ahead with their plan to destroy our constitutional republic and install their version of a socialist government, with them in total control of course. These next few years will tell if this country will survive or not.

I think Ron DeSantis is an excellent candidate for the GOP. Not so much with the others including Trump. If Trump is the nominee he will likely lose, which will result in the scenario you suggested. The GOP is a mess and I’m not sure they can recover. They are all talk and no action. The Dems advance their agenda every day while Republicans twiddle their thumbs.

Actually Vivek was the best entertainer, from the few YouTube videos I’ve now seen on the event. I loved the way he slapped down some of the other narcissistic & delusional contenders. He’ll go far in politics. Might even be a halfway decent president someday in the far-off future. Won’t happen in 2024, of course. But like I say, maybe someday……………….

The winner of last night’s debate……………………………………..Donald J. Trump. It just showed last night how far he is ahead of those guys. I thought the two strongest on stage were Ramaswamy, then DeSantis.

Bob J. My biggest reason why Ron isn’t my top pick (other than Trump) is that Ron is doing a spectacular job in FL. I hate to ruin all the gains Floridians go down the drain. Ron also sets the bar for other republican / Libertarian governors. As for Vivek, his only drawback I am aware of currently is that he attend Harvard. Harvard lost its credibility over 30 years ago. Looking at its ‘greatest’ receivers of their diplomas says it all.
DeSantis was great. He spoke of 1) What he has done, 2) What he is doing now, and 3) What he plans to do in the future. Clear. Trump #1, DeSantis a strong #2.
