Arizona Democratic Sen. Ruben Gallego is launching an effort to challenge a new Trump Administration immigration policy that could require many green card applicants to leave the United States and complete the process abroad.

According to a report from The Hill, Gallego is not only seeking to overturn the policy itself but is also pursuing a procedural strategy that could make it easier for Congress to reverse the change.

The dispute revolves around a recent U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) policy affecting how certain immigrants obtain lawful permanent residency.

In an interview with Jon Stewart on The Daily Show, when asked about the endorsements the Harris-Walz ticket had lost compared to the Biden-Harris ticket, Walz insisted that union members were out of touch with their own interests, and when pressed further, offered that union leaders lacked “the courage” to support the current Democratic ticket.

But that begs the question — why would unions need “courage” to ally themselves with the same party they have for decades?

Could it have something to do with the last four years, and the lack of explanation Harris has been able to offer despite multiple opportunities? Or saying there’s nothing she’d do differently than Joe Biden?

Breitbart News reports:

During an interview with Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” on Monday, 2024 Democratic vice presidential candidate Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) responded to some unions not endorsing the Harris-Walz ticket by stating that “They have tough politics inside those. These are folks that are directly responsible to their members,” and “Some of those leaders did not show the courage they needed to. The vast majority of union leaders showed the courage, they’re backing us.”

Jon Stewart asked, “Why have the unions, though, been more reluctant, in this cycle to –.”

Walz interrupted, “It’s a couple. They have tough politics inside those. These are folks that are directly responsible to their members, and, look, their members, some of them split off. The bottom line is, how can you be with a guy who wants to bust up unions, [is] not there to make collective bargaining [a] right, not to make health care there? So –.”

Stewart tried to finish his question, “But that is the cognitive dissonance that I don’t quite understand. So, you’re talking about unions –.”

Walz interjected, “Some of those leaders did not show the courage they needed to. The vast majority of union leaders showed the courage, they’re backing us. That’s what it is.”

Under Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, the U.S. has grappled with skyrocketing inflation and a weakened economy. Union members aren’t immune, and many are feeling the pinch of rising costs and stagnating wages. It’s no surprise that some are starting to question their allegiance to a party that seems out of touch with their daily realities.

In multiple public statements, Harris has indicated that she and Walz would not change their course, suggesting there’s nothing she would do differently than her current boss. This refusal to reflect on or acknowledge the economic challenges facing American workers could have something to do with the key endorsements she’s lost. Such statements signal a lack of accountability, which is concerning for those who have historically depended on the Democratic Party to advocate for their interests.

The 2024 election is shaping up to be a referendum on the effectiveness of the Biden administration’s policies, especially concerning economic recovery. As voters—including union members—evaluate their options, they will likely prioritize candidates who acknowledge the current economic reality and propose thorough solutions to improve their situations.

The loss of union endorsements may serve as a wake-up call for Democrats. To regain the trust of labor unions and their members, the party must show a willingness to engage in honest conversations about the economy and the challenges workers face. It is crucial for Democratic leaders to take responsibility for past decisions and outline a clear plan to address inflation, job security, and wage growth.

No, Democrats are losing endorsements because union MEMBERS actually have courage. If union bosses had courage, they would endorse Trump as the membership wants.
